Full Job Description
The National Lacrosse League (NLL), North America's premier professional lacrosse league is seeking a Director, Finance who is responsible for collecting, managing, and analyzing league and team data to inform business strategy and budgeting. This individual works closely with senior leaders at the league office and each member club to identify opportunities to leverage economies of scale, oversee leaguewide growth, and improve processes across several key business areas, including ticket sales, commercial sales, marketing, and business operations. This position will also help manage various functions of the league's financial operations including budgeting, forecasting, accounting, and third-party vendors.

Responsibilities
  • Prepare detailed reports on the company's financial performance on a monthly, quarterly, and annual basis.
  • Conduct regular financial forecasting to report to senior leadership.
  • Support the company's annual business planning process by analyzing performance and working with each department to set budgets.
  • Retain awareness of the company's financial position and make recommendations to mitigate any potential risk.
  • Manage all accounting and finance personnel/relationships (internal and external).
  • Oversee the company's accounting system.
  • Oversee audit and internal control processes.
  • Oversee Financial Planning & Analysis function including leaguewide data reporting, benchmarking, and analysis across a variety of departments and pillars.
  • Recognize patterns in leaguewide financial performance, identify areas of opportunities, and recommend actions/solutions with a focus on improving financial outcomes.
  • Manage the due diligence process related to prospective investors.
  • Support the Lacrosse Operations department in the areas of luxury tax reporting and collective bargaining negotiations.
  • Oversee banking partnership and operations.
  • Oversee licensee sales and invoicing platform and operations
  • Support Commercial Operations through contracted payment management and partnership logistics.
  • Manage business credit card program.
  • Manage month-end closings, journal entries and accruals.
  • Other tasks as assigned.


Skills and Experience
  • 5+ years of experience in an accounting or business operations role, with budgeting and forecasting experience; ability to review and analyze financial statements, including P&Ls and Balance Sheets.
  • 5+ years of experience building financial models based on a variety of market-specific factors and projections.
  • 5+ years of experience managing relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Experience preparing financial reports and presenting to senior executives; ability to analyze data both quantitatively and qualitatively and make recommendations relating to strategic initiative.
  • Strong communication and organizational skills with a strong attention to detail
  • Self-starter with an entrepreneurial spirit who thrives working in a collaborative start-up environment; must be a team player with a strong ability to lead projects and provide updates to senior leadership.
  • Experience working for a professional sports league or team in a related role is strongly preferred.
  • Proficient in Microsoft365 Products with a strong understanding of Excel a must
  • SQL, R, Python knowledge is a plus.
  • Experience in a start-up environment is a plus.
  • Flexibility to work weekends or after-hours in-season as required.
