THE ROLE We are seeking a
Director of Finance to join our team and help drive our continued success. This role plays an important part in supporting our customers, strengthening our business, and contributing to the long-term growth of Douglas Dynamics.
HOW YOU WILL CONTRIBUTE The Director of Finance has overall responsibility for all finance and accounting functions for the Commercial Snow and Ice (CSI) division of Douglas Dynamics. This role supports the CSI Business Leadership Team and provides financial leadership, strategic insight, and operational support to maximize the fiscal impact of tactical and strategic business decisions.
HOW YOU'LL MAKE A DIFFERENCE - Partner with the CSI Business Leadership Team, department managers, and supervisors to monitor financial performance, develop key performance indicators, and identify opportunities for improvement.
- Actively participate in strategic business planning to support divisional growth and profitability objectives.
- Provide timely, accurate financial reporting, analysis, and insight to the WTA President and Vice President of Finance, highlighting trends, risks, and improvement opportunities.
- Oversee the preparation and analysis of monthly financial results, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and compliance with Douglas Dynamics policies and GAAP standards.
- Coach, develop, and lead CSI finance staff, promoting continuous improvement in accounting processes and financial reporting systems.
- Lead the annual budgeting process and prepare periodic forecasts and long-range financial models to support divisional financial goals.
- Ensure accurate inventory valuation and product costing, including oversight of cycle counts and physical inventory processes.
- Oversee annual financial audits and SOX compliance activities for the CSI division in collaboration with Douglas Dynamics Internal Audit.
- Support the financial evaluation and approval process for large strategic initiatives and new product development projects, including cost, risk, and margin analysis.
- Be able to manage finance functions and staff across multiple plants and locations. Travel 10-25% depending on business needs
- Support M&A activity as needed: acquisition modeling, synergy build out, due diligence, integration activities etc.
WHAT THIS ROLE NEEDS Education/Experience - Bachelor's degree required; CPA, CMA, or MBA preferred.
Experience and/or Training - Minimum of 10 years of progressive finance and accounting experience.
- Prior public accounting experience preferred.
- Manufacturing company background required.
- Strong cost accounting skills and background preferred.
Licenses/Certificates - CPA, CMA, or MBA preferred but not required.
Technology/Equipment - Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office and Windows-based applications; experience with TCM and EPICOR systems preferred.
Additional Skills - Strong analytical, mathematical, and reasoning abilities.
