GENERAL DESCRIPTION

The Finance Director is selected by and is responsible to the Chief Executive Officer. Under general direction the Finance Director directs and coordinates the Center's activities concerned with financial, administrative, general accounting, financial and statistical reporting. Implements and reviews the accounting systems for the Center to provide complete and accurate records of the Center's assets, liabilities, and financial transactions. Evaluates accounting and patient business service procedures, plans methods of ensuring receipt of payments on patient's accounts are recorded promptly and accurately and monitors the costs and revenues of the Center's operations. Collaborates with management team in preparing the Center's budget based on past and present conditions in order to project future expenditures and revenues. Performs other duties as required to achieve organizational goals and program objectives.

The Finance Director functions as a member of a collaborative health care team to create and maintain a Patient Centered Medical Home.

Due to the nature of NHHC services, it may become necessary to require employees to work extended hours or other variations of the usual shift to ensure adequate care of patients and to maintain services to the community.

JOB SPECIFICATIONS

Education and Requirements:
• Bachelor in Business Administration/Accounting or Finance. A MBA or CPA certification preferred.
• Master's level education preferred but could be substituted - 2 years of experience for every year of education may be substituted.
• Some overnight travel required.
• Valid TX driver's license and own transportation.

Experience:
• 5+ years relevant work experience as a senior accountant or equivalent; experience in nonprofit accounting required.
• Experience working with federal/state grants and prior Auditing experience strongly preferred.
• Three to five years of management or leadership experience strongly preferred to influence and motivate change.
• Experience in a supervisory role strongly preferred.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
• Verbal ability is required to discuss financial problems with department supervisors and administrative personnel to prepare oral and written reports.
• Must be able to analyze problems and develop accounting systems to accurately control financial activity of the Center.
• Excellent communication/interpersonal skills to explain complex financial matter and ideas in directing the operation and revision of the accounting system, interpreting financial statements to management team and other staff, and coordinating activities with other departments.
• Ability to perform a variety of duties ranging from direct involvement in report analysis to coordination of accounting procedures with other departments.
• Capability to direct, plan and control all financial activities of the Center.
• Ability to deal with people in nonsupervisory situations requiring considerable tact in securing cooperation from administrative officials and other Center personnel.
• Required to make decisions on a judgmental basis in developing new accounting procedures.
