Job Purpose

Sharon Heights Golf & Country Club's Director of Facilities/Maintenance is responsible for effectively managing the Club's facilities, infrastructure, and systems to ensure a safe, efficient, and exceptional environment for members, guests, and staff. The Director is expected to take a proactive approach to the maintenance of our 50,000 square foot club facility, 5,000 square foot tennis facility, and 16,000 square foot newly constructed operations center. This role oversees and supports both the maintenance and security teams, ensuring all physical aspects of the Club meet the highest standards of form and function.

Job Summary (Essential Functions)

  • Oversee the repair and upkeep of physical assets including buildings, machinery, and systems, making recommendations to GM for short- and long-term major repairs, and handling minor repairs on a priority basis


  • Lead and manage capital improvement projects, renovations, and ongoing maintenance initiatives


  • Direct supervision of the maintenance staff, including on/offboarding, training, developing, scheduling, and managing job assignments


  • Regularly inspect facilities for preventative maintenance and ensure no safety hazards exist. Coordinate with outside agencies, local, state, and Federal regulations, including OSHA, EPA, etc.


  • Manage operational and capital budgets, expenditures, and procurement of maintenance supplies and services


  • Develop, implement, and maintain a comprehensive planned maintenance system, including repair logs and asset tracking mechanisms for all buildings, equipment, and systems (HVAC, electrical, plumbing, etc.)


  • Obtain bids, make recommendations, and coordinate work of outside contractors to ensure club projects are completed on time and in budget


  • Implement energy efficiency and sustainability initiatives where applicable


  • Work closely with other department leaders to anticipate needs, support events, and minimize disruptions to Club operations


  • Promote a culture of accountability, efficiency, and service within the Maintenance team


  • Serve as the primary point of contact for emergency maintenance and Club security operations


  • Oversees daily water checks on pools and filtering system to assure positive health protection and to stay within governmental health regulated guidelines; supervises maintenance of pool facility


  • Manage maintenance of parking lots, tennis courts, and other recreation areas


  • Manage fire protection systems for proper operation and training personnel for usage


  • Oversee ongoing energy management programs for the property's HVAC and lighting systems


  • Investigate and implement cost-saving alternatives applicable to maintenance and engineering responsibilities


Qualifications

  • Education


    • Associate's or Bachelor's in Facilities Management, Engineering, Construction Management, or related field preferred


  • Licensure/Certifications


    • Valid driver's license, acceptable driving record/motor vehicle background check result required


  • Experience


    • Minimum 5 years of relevant experience, including at least 2 in a supervisory role required
    • Prior experience in a private Club or high-end hospitality environment
    • Electrical and/or HVAC trade experience preferred


  • Skills


    • Demonstrated success in managing both day-to-day maintenance and large-scale projects


    • Working knowledge of HVAC, electrical, plumbing, mechanical, and building systems


    • Strong project management and organizational skills


    • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills


    • Proficient in using Microsoft Office programs
    • Organization, prioritization, and attention to detail skills


Work Schedule and Hours

This is a full-time, exempt leadership position with a schedule that varies according to Club operations, member activity, special events, capital projects, and facility needs. The Facilities Director must be available to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed and may occasionally be required to respond to facility emergencies or time-sensitive operational issues outside of regularly scheduled hours.

Physical Requirements & Work Environment

The position requires a highly visible, hands-on presence throughout the Club's facilities and may involve regular movement between office, clubhouse, operations center, mechanical, and project areas. The Facilities Director may be exposed to varying weather conditions, noise, dust, chemicals, mechanical equipment, construction activities, wet or uneven surfaces, and other conditions associated with facility operations and maintenance. The role requires frequent walking, standing, climbing stairs, and navigating active work areas, as well as the occasional lifting, carrying, pushing, or moving of materials and equipment up to 50 pounds, with or without reasonable accommodation.

Compensation

This is an exempt, salaried position with an annual salary range of $140,000-$150,000. Starting compensation will be determined based on the selected candidate's experience, qualifications, and overall fit for the role.
