Full Job Description
The Director of Facilities provides leadership and oversight for all campus physical plant operations, including buildings and grounds, utilities, energy management systems, and safety and security systems. This position ensures a safe, healthy, comfortable, and well-maintained environment for students, faculty, and staff. The Director is responsible for planning, scheduling, and supervising maintenance, repairs, custodial services, and other facilities operations, while ensuring the efficient and effective day-to-day operation of the campus.
The Director of Facilities oversees the daily operations of the Facilities Department, including maintenance, custodial services, utilities, grounds, preventive maintenance, and facility improvements. The position supervises staff and contractors, manages budgets, service contracts, purchasing, and facility projects, and ensures campus facilities are safe, efficient, well-maintained, and compliant with MIOSHA and OSHA requirements. The Director also maintains facility records, blueprints, floor plans, and key controls while coordinating with architects, engineers, and contractors on renovations and construction projects.
The position requires a bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in Business Management, Business Administration, Construction, Engineering, or a related field is preferred. Five to ten years of experience in the Baker College Facilities Department is required.
