Compensation Range: $75,000 - $95,000 annually commensurate with experience

Benefits:

Staff begins accruing PTO immediately for a total of up to 30 days earned in the first year. We offer employees an educational benefit. This money is available for tuition loan reimbursement, tuition costs, and text books.

Overview:

The Director of Events is responsible for managing the production of an aggressive schedule of fundraising events. Focusing on key design, fashion, donor cultivation, and physical challenge events, including The Groundbreaker Awards, Design on a Dime, Fashion for Action, and Braking AIDS, the Director provides leadership in decision-making process about strategies, opportunities, and creative vision related to successful implementation of all fundraising and donor cultivation events. The Director will also work to identify new opportunities and partnerships that help to grow event revenue. The position reports to the VP of Development and works closely with the Director of Corporate Partnerships, Director of Development, and Communications Coordinator.

Responsibilities:

Primary:
  • Develop, manage, and implement fundraising and sales plans, strategies, as well as designing operations for each event to increase both profit and donor/customer experience.
  • Participate in planning and execution of events, including identifying dates, locations, participants, and formats.
  • Collaborate with Director of Corporate Partnerships to execute event sponsorship solicitation and manage mutually beneficial integrated marketing and activation plans for event sponsors.
  • Establish, build, and maintain relationships with vendors, donors, and volunteers. Collaborate with Communications Coordinator and serve as liaison with Marketing Department to develop event-related communications and asset development/production plans.
  • Build event budgets and negotiate event/production contracts.
  • Manage quotes, logistics, and execution of all details of event production including but not limited to catering, lighting, A/V, décor, registrations, etc.
  • Conceptualize and activate creative, low-cost solutions to maximize event budgets.
  • Create effective timelines and assure adherence to all event deadlines, including run of shows. With visual team, build merchandising plan to maximize sales and ensure budget compliance.
  • Communicate effectively with numerous in-house departments to facilitate staff, equipment, delivery, etc. needs for events.
  • Manage technology needs across events.
  • Identify new event opportunities to refresh the current offering of agency events that drive additional revenue, new donors, and visibility for the organization.
  • Secondary: Assist the VP with developing all event budgets with a focus on event production expenditures.
  • Develop accurate and timely reporting on all events. Work closely with finance to ensure all vendor payments are processed and event account reconciliation is completed in a timely manner.

Educational Requirements:
  • BA/BS required and a minimum of 3-5 years of event production experience, preferably in a non-profit setting.
  • Superior communications skills.
  • Proactive critical thinker with demonstrated ability to maintain accountability, work independently and creatively while functioning as part of a collaborative team.
  • Strong, detail-oriented, organizational and follow-through skills, as well as exceptional written and oral communication skills.
  • Exceptional computer software skills, including MS Office suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Experience with Adobe Creative Suite preferred but not required.
  • Ability to travel to appointments, meetings, conferences, etc. for job-related business.
