Job Title
Director of Entrepreneurship

Department
College Life Office

Position Summary

Gettysburg College seeks a dynamic and entrepreneurially minded leader to relaunch and grow its entrepreneurship program. Reporting to the Assistant Vice President for Co-Curricular Education, this role is responsible for building an engaged community of student founders and change-makers, connecting the program to alumni and local, regional, and national networks, and creating hands-on learning experiences that reflect the college's liberal arts values, including the belief that entrepreneurial thinking is a vital skill across every discipline and walk of life.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and execute a strategic vision to revitalize the entrepreneurship program, including curriculum, events, and extracurricular initiatives
  • Design experiential learning opportunities such as pitch competitions, incubator cohorts, and founder workshops spanning for-profit, nonprofit, and community-based ventures
  • Champion entrepreneurial thinking as a cross-disciplinary competency, partnering with faculty in the humanities, sciences, arts, and social sciences to embed it across the curriculum
  • Build partnerships with alumni, local entrepreneurs, nonprofit leaders, investors, and community organizations
  • Advise and support student entrepreneurs and aspiring organizational leaders pursuing for-profit ventures, nonprofit missions, or community-based initiatives
  • Promote an understanding of financial management and operational efficiency
  • Coordinate and collaborate with existing College programs, including the Garthwait Leadership Center, the Center for Career Engagement, the Center for Public Service, and the Eisenhower Institute to ensure the entrepreneurship program complements and strengthens the broader ecosystem of student development opportunities
  • Secure funding through grants, donor cultivation, and corporate and foundation sponsorships to sustain program growth
  • Track and report on program outcomes, participation, and alumni impact

Expanded Leadership Opportunity

For the right candidate, this role may also include leadership responsibility for advancing the College's alternative revenue initiatives-identifying, developing, and helping implement new revenue-generating projects that support the institution's long-term sustainability. This is a natural extension of an entrepreneurial mindset, applied to the College itself, and offers an opportunity to shape strategy beyond the entrepreneurship program alone. Candidates interested in this expanded scope should indicate so in their application; compensation will be adjusted accordingly.

What Makes This Unique

This is a rare opportunity to rebuild a program within an institution that values creativity, critical thinking, and community. We believe entrepreneurial thinking belongs everywhere, in startups and studios, in community health clinics and arts nonprofits, in policy and public service. The ideal candidate shares that broad vision and is excited to bring it to life across a student body with diverse interests and aspirations.

Qualifications
  • Demonstrated entrepreneurial or organizational leadership experience in a for-profit, nonprofit, or community-based setting
  • Proven experience securing funds and managing organizational finances
  • Familiarity with the unique challenges of leading mission-driven and community organizations
  • Passion for mentorship and working with college-age students
  • Strong network-building and relationship management skills
  • Ability to work independently and build something from the ground up
  • Bachelor's degree required; advanced degree a plus
  • Experience in higher education or a liberal arts environment preferred but not required
