What You'll Do:
  • Division Capital Development- Work with Operations Management and other disciplines to develop projects, including process modeling, equipment specification, general arrangement drawings, project estimates and narrative descriptions. Assist with managing annual capital budgets and spending
  • Manage Engineering Staff- Manage and mentor the activities of the Division's project engineering staff. Direct and guide their project management. Check their work for conformance with company and industry standards. Execute regular performance reviews and
    work with staff to develop their goals. Prepare annual department budget.
  • Manage Projects- Prepare and manage all project estimates, cost tracking, scheduling, purchasing and execution. Coordinate with internal and external fabrication and construction crews to ensure successful completion of engineering projects. Coordinate with other support groups within Vulcan (environmental, procurement, electrical, rail, community relations, finance, mine planning and safety) as needed. Coordinate project work with operations.
  • Overall Operations Support- Be available at any time to address "plant down" issues or other troubleshooting needs. Provide guidance to operations with respect to repairs and maintenance. Coordinate resources to address both troubleshooting and routine R&M. Make routine visits to all facilities within the Division. Participate in routine process improvement exercises at most facilities within the Division.
  • Interaction with other Support Groups- Provide routine expertise to other support groups within the organization.


Responsibilities

Skills You'll Need:
  • Education- BSCE/BSME is preferred, other disciplines considered when accompanied with industry knowledge.
    Licenses- Must have a valid driver's license. A PE license (any state) is preferred.
  • Experience- Must have at least 15 years of experience in a heavy industrial, civil/mechanical engineering, or mining environment. Must have extensive engineering experience with stone aggregate facilities including crushing, screening, conveying, washing and product delivery.
  • Systems Design Skills- Must have strong structural steel, concrete, and plant systems design skills. Must have general knowledge of pumping, electrical and plant automation systems. Must have knowledge of aggregate process flow modeling.
  • Technical Skills- Must have advanced computer skills, including proficiency in AutoCAD, spreadsheets and word processing. Knowledge of aggregate processing software packages is a plus.
