Overview

The Director of Education advances the healing mission of Catholic Health through education and formation throughout the health system, strengthening and integrating Catholic identity and mission broadly conceived so that all Catholic Health employees recognize and treat every human person as being made in the image of God. The Director, therefore, serves as an important role in the evangelization mission of Catholic Health.

 

The Director of Education is responsible for developing and facilitating educational programming and materials for Mission Integration throughout the Catholic Health system under the direction of the Senior Vice-President. The role will include teaching of physicians, nurses, and other clinicians; hospital bioethics committees; leaders; and other Catholic Health staff. Although the focus will be on education in bioethics, other educational topics may be included.

 

Responsibilities

  • Assess and identify educational needs with respect to mission integration, and particularly in bioethics, throughout Catholic Health
  • Plan, promote, and facilitate mission integration education and training throughout the Catholic Health system including:
    • Bioethics curriculum and presentations for physicians and nurses
    • Presentations for staff and employees
  • Lead the planning and execution of the annual Bioethics Day at Catholic Health
  • Coordinate with the National Catholic Bioethics Center for additional training opportunities in collaboration with Catholic Health
  • Facilitate discussions as needed related to mission integration and bioethics
  • Develop opportunities to educate students and interns within Catholic Health
  • Remain current on developments in the field pertinent to Catholic bioethics
  • Additional tasks as assigned

 

Job Qualifications/Education

  • Degree in education or significant experience in teaching. The ideal candidate will have had hands-on experience teaching in formal settings.
  • Certificate, higher degree, or significant experience in Catholic bioethics
  • Working knowledge of Catholic moral theology and the Ethical and Religious Directives (ERDs)
  • Volunteer or work experience in a healthcare setting preferable, though not mandatory

  • Excellent communication skills to be able to interact and engage a wide variety of audiences including clinicians, staff, and executives
  • Able to work collaboratively with individuals from a variety of backgrounds and educational experiences
  • Good attention to detail and organizational skills

Posted Salary RangeUSD $78,000.00 - USD $117,000.00 /Yr.

This range serves as a good faith estimate and actual pay will encompass a number of factors, including a candidate’s qualifications, skills, competencies and experience.
