Director of Construction - Data Center

Job Summary Iron Mountain is seeking an experienced Director of Construction - Data Center Construction to join our Data Center team. In this role, you will be responsible for leading the delivery of construction projects, directing an inter-disciplinary team of construction managers and contractors, and managing annual capital budgets and aggressive timelines. You will bridge the gap between high-level real estate strategy and hands-on site execution to ensure all build-outs are delivered on time while maintaining a 99.999% uptime standard.

What You'll Do (Responsibilities) In this role, you will:
  • Lead Project & Team Execution: Supervise an inter-disciplinary project team of construction managers and contractors while facilitating critical design and construction meetings with external professionals and enterprise clients.
  • Drive Financial & Procurement Control: Develop and manage detailed capital budgets and project schedules in cooperation with corporate finance, while deploying procurement strategies to manage bid processes, general contractors, and change orders.
  • Manage Infrastructure Systems: Oversee the integrated testing and commissioning of complex mechanical, electrical, and IT systems, ensuring all workflows have rigorously reviewed Methods of Procedures (MOPs) and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
  • Ensure Compliance & Quality Assurance: Review building codes and NFPA standards to ensure a safe work environment, while auditing installed components to verify vendor scope completion and validate design documentation.

What You'll Bring (Skills & Qualifications) The ideal candidate will have:
  • Data Center Construction Experience: A minimum of 7 years of experience in the delivery of critical infrastructure construction projects and client-facing roles within a corporate real estate or military setting.
  • Budgetary & Commercial Expertise: Proven proficiency in real estate budgeting, accounting, contract negotiation, and multi-tier vendor management under tight deadlines.
  • Strategic Leadership & Influence: Strong cross-functional navigation and communication skills to influence internal partners, resolve conflicts constructively, and build trusting relationships with executive clients.
  • Education & Travel Requirements: A Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Architecture, or Business/Finance (Advanced degree strongly preferred) and the flexibility to travel up to 20%.
  • Must be a US Citizen
