Full Job Description
The VNA & Hospice of the Southwest Region of Rutland is looking for a full time Director of Communications.

A DAY IN THE LIFE OF THE DIRECTOR OF COMMUNICATIONS:

This position provides strategic leadership and oversight of the Agency's internal and external communications, public relations, marketing, and brand strategy. This position ensures clear, consistent, and engaging messaging that strengthens the Agency's brand and community presence, supports organizational priorities, promotes services and community awareness, and advances the Agency's mission across the communities it serves. Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
  • Lead and oversee all internal and external communications, ensuring timely, clear, consistent, and effective messaging to employees, patients and families, referral sources, community partners, stakeholders, and the public.
  • Develop and execute the Agency's comprehensive communications, marketing, and brand strategy in alignment with organizational goals, strategic priorities, growth initiatives, and mission.
  • Provide strategic communications counsel to the CEO and Leadership Team, including support for organizational announcements, change management, key initiatives, executive communications, and matters requiring coordinated messaging.
  • Oversee and maintain the Agency's brand identity and standards, ensuring a consistent and recognizable look, voice, and message across all locations, programs, printed materials, digital platforms, presentations, signage, and other communications.
  • Direct the Agency's digital communications strategy, including website content, social media, digital campaigns, email communications, and other digital engagement platforms, ensuring content is current, relevant, engaging, and aligned with organizational priorities.
  • Lead public and media relations efforts, including press releases, media inquiries, organizational announcements, community stories, and proactive opportunities to increase awareness of the Agency, its services, expertise, and impact.
  • Partner with clinical, operational, business development, and leadership teams to support growth and referral development, creating targeted communications and marketing strategies that strengthen relationships with referral sources, healthcare partners, and community stakeholders.
  • Identify opportunities to strengthen the Agency's position as a preferred home health and hospice provider, using market insights, referral trends, community relationships, storytelling, and targeted outreach strategies.
  • Develop and oversee marketing and communications campaigns that promote Agency services, programs, recruitment initiatives, community education, events, partnerships, and other strategic priorities.
  • Establish and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) for communications, marketing, digital engagement, campaigns, and outreach activities; analyze results and use data to continuously improve effectiveness and return on investment.
  • Develop and manage the communications and marketing budget, evaluating expenditures, vendor relationships, advertising opportunities, and other investments to ensure responsible use of resources and measurable value.

QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Bachelor's degree required. Focus in marketing, communications, or related field preferred.
  • Five to seven years of marketing leadership experience required. Prior experience in health care preferred.
  • Valid State driver's license required. Ability to successfully pass pre-employment adult, child and VCIC background checks required.
