Full Job Description
Purpose: To perform executive level work responsible for carrying out the duties and activities necessary for the effective and efficient performance of the Tax Collector's Office as well as the planning, direction, and coordination of activities designed to create and maintain a favorable public image of the Hillsborough County Tax Collector's Office. Requires extensive depth of expertise and knowledge in specialized functions or business areas that can be used to develop and implement policies and procedures and to determine efficient and innovative ways to accomplish business strategies.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities (*Essential Job Functions)

Develop and deploy communications strategy on behalf of the Tax Collector's Office*

Fosters strong working relationships with other State and County departments, government officials, the media, the general public, and outside agencies or businesses to achieve positive outcomes and results for the Tax Collector's office*

Develop and maintain the organization's image and identity including the use of logos, signs, and other marketing materials*

Oversee the effective management of the organization's web site, intranet, and social media sites*

Produce and oversee production of publications and videos, and coordinate special events to raise public awareness of the programs and services of the Tax Collector's office*

Evaluate marketing, advertising, and promotion programs for compatibility with public relations efforts*

Write interesting and effective press releases and prepare information for media kits*

Develop and manage the organization's communication plan*

Plan and direct the work activities of staff in Communications & Community Relations and oversee the department budget*

Represents the Tax Collector at meeting and events*

Assists the Tax Collector by planning and implementing future programs, policies and procedures as required based on legal changes and other business factors

Participate in the development, deployment, and integration of the strategic direction of the Tax Collector's Office

Job Specifications (including knowledge, skills, abilities, and physical requirements)

Expert knowledge of the principles and practices of marketing, community relations, and program development

Considerable knowledge of web site and social media management

Considerable knowledge of goals, objectives, policies, and practices of the Tax Collector's office

Skilled in the use of Microsoft Office including SharePoint, Adobe Creative Suite, web, and social media marketing platforms

Excellent oral and written communication skills

Ability to organize and prioritize work activities

Ability to build and foster effective working relationships

Ability to effectively represent the organization and the Tax Collector in the community

Ability to use considerable initiative, think independently and exercise sound judgment

Ability to use a computer, keyboard and general office software and equipment

Work is typically sedentary requires standing or walking up to 40% of the time

Some tasks may involve reaching, pulling, pushing, climbing, bending, or lifting (up to 30 lbs.)

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in business, marketing or a related field from an accredited college or university; and

5 years of experience working in communications, community relations or a related field.

An equivalent level of education and experience may be substituted as permitted by law.

Bilingual (Spanish) preferred.

APR certification preferred.
