Compensation Annual Salary Range - $170,000 - $180,000
What you'll do
The Director of Catering leads all catering sales, planning and execution for social and corporate events at The Beverly Hills Hotel, maintaining the property's legendary service across weddings, galas, corporate functions as well as entertainment industry gatherings to name a few. This role partners closely with Sales, Banquets, Culinary, Marketing and Operations to deliver seamless, high touch events that reflect the hotel's iconic reputation.
• Drive catering revenue by managing the full sales cycle: prospecting, proposals, contracts, and closing.
• Lead, mentor, manage, develop, train and counsel catering and conference services staff.
• Set individual and department production goals as well as conduct employee performance evaluation reviews and action plans as required.
• Actively participate in catering sales presentations, property tours and customer meetings.
• Prepare, implement and compile data for Strategic Sales Plan, weekly forecasting and Month-end reports, annual goals, and any other required data for the Catering team.
• Participate in Rev-Max meetings (as needed), sales strategy meeting, revenue meetings, pre-convention meetings, training and other sales related meetings as required.
• Consults in full service event planning and finalizes contracts, estimate sheets and diagrams, with clients according to catering sales service standards.
• Confirm payments, guarantees, set-ups and signed contracts and changes with clients.
• Generate detailed banquet event orders according to contract.
• Review and inspect banquet rooms and displays with Banquet Manager for conformance to client needs.
• Directs workers in preparing banquet and convention rooms and erecting displays and exhibits.
• Detail client data in Historical/Tracking Client Files.
• Compile data on competitive set pricing and options as required.
• Conduct weekly Catering Meeting.
• Participate to all Division meeting.
• Assist all F&B Operations as directed.
• Fulfill scheduled Event Management Coverage Detail.
• Compute menu cost in event planning for in-house statistics
Ensure compliance with health, safety and brand standards across all catered events
What you'll bring
• You'll bring your unique personality and passion to the role and the team.
• 7+ years of catering or events sales experience with at least 3 years as Director of Catering in a luxury hotel or resort setting.
• Extensive knowledge of food and beverage including current trends
• Proven track record of meeting or exceeding revenue targets
• Strong negotiation, organizational, and client relationship skills
• Experience managing a team and cross-functional stake holders
• Exceptional written and verbal communications skills
• Flexibility to work evenings/weekends based on event schedules.
• Products, proper preparation and presentation of food and beverage items.
• Ability to effectively communicate in a friendly and positive manner with internal and external constituents in both oral and written form.
• Ability to communicate customer needs and resolve complaints.
• Mathematical aptitude beneficial.
• Ability to identify and develop new accounts and markets
• Desire to participate as part of a team and lead with empathy and kindness
