Full Job Description
GEICO Marketing is in an exciting moment in time - one rooted in transformation, modernization, and growth, with incubating and deepening GEICO's in house capabilities central to this effort. The Director of Capability & Partner Transformation will be critical in fueling long-term growth and differentiation by building, modernizing, and scaling GEICO's most critical marketing capabilities, both internally and through partners. As a transformation leader and innovator, this role defines what "great" looks like for the future of GEICO's marketing organization, driving greater in-housing, strengthening partner models, and delivering measurable business outcomes.

Sitting at the intersection of strategy, transformation, and technology, this role partners closely with AI and Change Management leaders within the Marketing Transformation team, capability owners across Marketing, stakeholders throughout GEICO, and agency partners. This is a high-visibility, high-impact leadership role for a transformative thinker and doer who can turn vision into reality within a complex enterprise environment.

Location: This is a hybrid role, with an onsite presence of 3 days per week at our NYC or Bethesda office.

Reports To: Head of Marketing Transformation & Operations

Key Responsibilities:

Capability Strategy & Prioritization
  • Continuously evolve a forward-looking marketing capability strategy and roadmap aligned to GEICO's business and marketing strategy, and investing in the biggest areas of growth, differentiation, and modernization.
  • Establish clear decision frameworks for build vs. buy vs. partner, with sharp prioritization on where and when to invest, scale back, and exit.
  • Design assessment and measurement approaches to evaluate capability maturity, performance, and business impact.
  • Set and track success metrics tied to business outcomes (speed to market, efficiency, ROI, revenue impact), ensuring every capability investment delivers measurable value.
  • Serve as a strategic thought partner to senior leadership on where marketing capabilities must evolve to stay ahead of the industry.


Capability Incubation & Modernization
  • Lead marketing capability incubation end-to-end from concept and incubation through execution, scaling, and transition into steady state ownership.
  • Diagnose underperforming or fragile capabilities, identify root causes, and rearchitect solutions across talent, process, technology, and operating model.
  • Design and implement agile ways of working, governance, rituals, and performance management.
  • Partner cross-functionally across Marketing, Technology, Data, and Operations to integrate tools, platforms, and workflows.
  • Ensure disciplined transitions of capabilities from transformation to business ownership, with strong knowledge transfer, documentation, and enablement.
  • Manage third-party consultants and embedded partners against these efforts


Agency & Partner Enablement (Cross-Capability)
  • Own GEICO's agency and partner operating model, defining clear roles, decision rights, and ways of working across internal teams and external partners.
  • Establish modern engagement models optimized for outcomes, speed, and collaboration.
  • Partner with capability and business owners to set and govern end-to-end workflows between internal teams and agencies (briefing, planning, execution, optimization, and measurement).
  • Define and enforce standards for communication, cadence, governance forums, and escalation paths across agency and partner relationships.
  • Lead RFIs/RFPs and onboarding for agencies and specialized partners, ensuring alignment to capability needs, cultural fit, and modern working practices.
  • Drive disciplined knowledge sharing and documentation between agencies and internal teams to reduce dependency and increase transparency.
  • Orchestrate thoughtful transitions as work moves between partners and internal teams, maintaining continuity of delivery and minimizing disruption.
  • Serve as the primary point of integration between agencies, consultants, and internal capability owners, ensuring partners feel like a true extension of the GEICO marketing organization.


AI
  • Partners closely with Marketing Technology and AI leaders to embed AI, automation, and advanced analytics as force multipliers within and across marketing capabilities.
  • Champions AI and modern tools based on demonstrated business value, usability, and scalability
  • Actively stays ahead of AI and marketing technology trends and translates them into practical opportunities for capability advancement.

Qualifications:

  • Proven track record leading modern marketing capabilities and large-scale initiatives that improved performance, processes, and ways of working.
  • Combines bold strategic vision with executional rigor-able to set direction and personally drive outcomes.
  • Experience building, leading, and enabling high-performing teams through periods of transformation.
  • Strong background managing agency and consulting partners, with experience evolving operating models and supporting in-housing transitions.
  • Comfortable using AI and marketing technology to accelerate speed, quality, and decision-making and excited by AI's future potential.
  • Brings a continuous-learning mindset, staying ahead of industry trends and raising the bar for marketing excellence.

Annual Salary
$146,575.00 - $229,600.00
The above annual salary range is a general guideline. Multiple factors are taken into consideration to arrive at the final hourly rate/ annual salary to be offered to the selected candidate. Factors include, but are not limited to, the scope and responsibilities of the role, the selected candidate's work experience, education and training, the work location as well as market and business considerations.
