Job Summary

Reporting to the Associate Vice President for Institutional Strategy and Planning in the Office of Institutional Success and Decision Support (OISDS), the Director of Business Intelligence and Data Visualization will lead the development of an evolving enterprise capability that transforms institutional data and analysis into clear, compelling, and actionable information for university leaders and stakeholders.

The Director works closely with OISDS colleagues, the Data Warehousing team within the Office of Information Technology, and stakeholders across the university to design and deliver executive-level data visualizations, analytical briefs, dashboards, reports, and other decision-support products. These products support audiences ranging from university leadership and the President's Cabinet to campus leaders, external stakeholders, and others who require clear and accessible presentations of institutional information.

The successful candidate will combine technical expertise, analytical judgment, information design, and exceptional visual and narrative communication skills. The Director will be expected to understand not only how to analyze and visualize data, but also what matters, for whom, and why. The role requires the ability to translate complex datasets and analyses into visual and narrative formats that enable non-technical audiences to quickly understand patterns, relationships, trends, comparisons, implications, and options.

The Director will establish and advance principles, standards, templates, and best practices for high-quality institutional data visualization and storytelling, helping to define how UT Dallas communicates quantitative information. The Director will oversee a portfolio of highly visible data products, supervise and develop a Business Intelligence Analyst, collaborate with data engineering and warehousing teams, and contribute to broader OISDS data literacy and decision-support initiatives.

The Director will also support strategic priorities of the Office of Institutional Success and Decision Support and the Office of Strategic Initiatives, including the development of a decision support hub and other projects that support the Vice President for Strategic Initiatives and Chief of Staff.
