Director of Bus Line Inspections
The Director of Bus Line Inspection at Transdev oversees the inspection, compliance, and safety of all buses and related transit vehicles within the company's operations. This role ensures that vehicles meet or exceed federal, state, and local safety, operational, and regulatory standards while maintaining fleet reliability and efficiency through strategic leadership, data-driven decision-making, and continuous improvement initiatives

Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and supervise inspections of buses at the manufacturing facility for mechanical, electrical, and safety issues; verify compliance with transportation laws and regulations.
- Oversee the preparation of inspection reports, maintenance records, and driver certification reviews; ensure accurate and timely documentation.
- Develop and implement training programs for inspectors in cooperation with the bus manufacturers to ensure all safety protocols, equipment use, and regulatory requirements are complied with by our inspectors.
- Stay current with changes in transportation regulations and industry standards, and communicate updates as necessary.
- Develop and execute company-wide inspection and compliance strategy aligned with organizational goals.
- Oversee departmental budgets, staffing, and resource allocation.
- Provide regular reporting and insights to senior leadership on risk, compliance, and operational performance.
- Lead and develop a team of inspectors, supervisors, and support staff.
- Other duties as required.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree preferred (or equivalent experience)
- Proven experience in bus inspection, public transportation operations, or transportation safety enforcement.
- Thorough knowledge of transportation regulations, attention to detail, problem solving, organizational and communication skills, ability to work independently and with teams.
- Working knowledge and proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel and relevant database programs
- Good written and oral communication skills
- Ability to organize and perform work efficiently; strong attention to details
- Subject to a DOT drug testing and physical if applicable. DOT Regulation 49 CFR Part 40 does not authorize the use of Schedule I drugs, including cannabis, for any reason.
Physical Requirements:
The essential functions of this position require the ability to:
- Sit for extended periods (up to 6-8 hours per day); frequently walk for long distances and on possible sloped ground or slippery and uneven surfaces
- Push and pull objects up to 50 pounds, occasionally throughout the workday; lift material weighing up to 50 lbs. with or without assistance; occasionally bend, kneel, or crouch to files or equipment stored at ground level
- Withstand heavy traffic areas while performing the duties of the job; tolerate exposure to considerable amounts of dust, vehicle fumes and noise.
