Description

Job Summary

The Director of Audience Engagement is a strategic leader responsible for content strategy, editorial planning, and audience growth across StyleBlueprint's main verticals, primarily Travel & Lifestyle and SB Home, while also providing high-level guidance for local editions. This role leads StyleBlueprint HQ's editorial team, which includes our Social Media Manager.

While this is not a dedicated writing or editing role, this leader will require strong editorial judgment to shape story framing, headlines, and content positioning to maximize engagement, reach, and overall performance. This role is best suited for someone who can balance editorial intuition with analytical, data-driven decision making.

This is a full-time position, reporting directly to the CEO and managing a team of 3-5 direct reports.

Requirements
  • Minimum of 7 years of experience in editorial leadership, content strategy, or audience development, with demonstrated success managing teams and leading cross-functional initiatives.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to translate performance data into actionable insights and strategy.
  • Proven success growing audiences across social media, email newsletters, and digital platforms.
  • Strong editorial judgment with the ability to evaluate story framing, headlines, and content structure to maximize audience engagement.
  • Exceptional attention to detail, organizational skills, and a systems-thinking mindset.
  • Proficiency with WordPress (or similar content management systems) and analytics tools (Google Analytics, Ahrefs, etc.)
  • Embraces AI as a productivity tool - not to replace editorial thinking or writing, but to streamline repetitive tasks, improve workflows, and increase efficiency.
  • Ability to travel for quarterly 2-night retreats, planning sessions, and occasional industry events, as well as virtually participate in daily huddles and recurring leadership meetings.

Job Responsibilities
  • Lead content strategy and editorial planning for StyleBlueprint Travel & Lifestyle and SB Home, while providing high-level guidance to local Market Leaders who manage their own content calendars.
  • Lead, coach, and manage HQ's team of content creators and copyeditors, ensuring alignment, accountability, and high-quality execution.
  • Lead audience growth strategy for StyleBlueprint's social media, email newsletters, website traffic, and syndication partnerships.
  • Identify, test, and scale audience development initiatives, sharing insights and best practices across all markets.
  • Analyze content performance metrics and translate insights into strategic recommendations.
  • Provide guidance on story framing, headlines, and positioning for both editorial and sponsored content initiatives.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with sales and other internal stakeholders to align content strategy with broader goals.
  • Maintain visibility across all content distribution workflows to ensure operational efficiency, proactively identifying bottlenecks, opportunities, and process improvements.

What Success Looks Like

The Director of Audience Engagement owns the growth, performance, and scalability of StyleBlueprint's content ecosystem. This leader guides how content is planned, packaged, distributed, and promoted across email, web, social, and emerging channels to maximize audience engagement, using data and audience insights to inform editorial strategy.

Success in this role means building repeatable editorial systems, scalable audience-growth initiatives, and content best practices that strengthen both existing and future StyleBlueprint markets. Success will be measured by:
  • Growing email subscribers, open rates, and click-through rates.
  • Increasing audience engagement and content performance across web, social, and emerging distribution channels.
  • Developing repeatable content series that strengthen readership and brand affinity.
  • Building scalable systems that support continued organizational growth.

What We Offer
  • Compensation: Competitive base salary, bonus opportunities, monthly profit sharing, and 401(k) with company match.
  • 4 ½-Day Work Week: The office closes at 12:30 PM every Friday so our team can enjoy an early start to the weekend.
