Full Job Description
Job Title: Director of Athletics
Reports to: Head of School, Asst. Head of School
Location: Lawrence High School
Job Type: Full-Time

JOB GOAL:
The primary function of the Athletic Supervisor to manage and oversee the
campus' inter-scholastic athletic program. The Athletic Supervisor is responsible
for ensuring compliance with all state and school athletic regulations and
administering departmental funds and accounts in a responsible manner.
The Athletic Supervisor is also expected to demonstrate a culture of
professionalism, sportsmanship and respect at all times.

Administrative/Strategic Tasks:
• Prepare a master budget and supervise uniform and equipment inventories.
• Coordinate program fundraising (if appropriate).
• Evaluate all athletic programs on an annual basis and make recommendations
for improvement to the Headmaster/and or Superintendent.
• Provide administrative direction and oversight for all athletic programs and activities.
• Coordinate the ordering and distribution of letter jackets, letters, awards, etc.
• Attend and supervise all home athletic contests.
• Submit official game report sheets in a timely manner.
• Perform other duties as assigned by Head of School and/or Superintendent.
• Re-establish and oversee the Lawrence High School Hall of Fame selection committee.
Coach Management:
• Supervise full and part-time athletic staff members including assisting in the hiring,
disciplining or exiting of all athletic staff members in accordance with MIAA
and/or LPS requirements.
• Take full responsibility for training, mentoring, and evaluating coaches and athletic staff.
• Complete weekly to bi-weekly check-ins with all coaches on the athletic staff and end
of season formal evaluations.
Schedule Management:
• Prepare and maintain a master sports calendar complete with all athletic events/games,
departure times, practices, etc.
• Schedule suitable competition for all non-district events/games.
• Confirm all athletic events/games and transportation requests prior to each athletic
event/game.
• Work with transportation supervisor to schedule all athletic trips and provide bus supervision.
• Secure all officials/referees for all athletic contests and notify officials/referees of any and
all changes in athletic calendar.
• Notify the proper authorities at least 24 hours in advance of any changes/cancellations
in athletic calendar.
• Coordinate field house and athletic field use for practices and games and give final
clearance for the use of either the field house or athletic fields.
Training Management:
• Ensure all coaches have completed all league, state and school required coaching courses.
• Ensure all coaches are CPR/AED and first-aid certified and maintain all certifications as required.
Compliance Management:
• Enforce and implement all rules and policies pertaining to the MIAA and LPS and any
other organization athletic teams might be participating in.
• Maintain and submit MIAA and other league eligibility forms for all student-athletes.
• Complete required MIAA grade eligibility checks and inform student-athletes,
parents, coaches, and staff of ineligibility.
• Monitor and document coaches' league and state mandated certifications and trainings.
• Additional duties as assigned.

guidelines, and the local and state codes of ethics.

• Ability to perform a variety of tasks, often changing assignments on short notice,
with little to no direction.
• Ability to communicate effectively and appropriately with others.
QUALIFICATIONS:
The ideal candidate for this position will possess the following:
Education/Certification:
• Master's Degree from an accredited institution (required).
Experience:
• Minimum of two to four years administrative and coaching experience, preferred.

COMMITMENT AND COMPENSATION:
Length of Work Year:
• 230 day position; evening and weekend commitments also will be required
Compensation and Benefits: Compensation commensurate with experience.
