Job Description

The Analytics Support team provides strategic data and analytics services that enable organizational leaders and program teams to make informed decisions and improve outcomes. The team partners with staff across multiple divisions to deliver dashboards, reports, ad hoc analyses, and facilitated data reviews that increase visibility into program performance and operational effectiveness. Through a team of analysts, the function also establishes and maintains data infrastructure and governance practices that support consistent, highquality data use across the organization. This work creates the foundation for sustainable datadriven decisionmaking and strong data practices agencywide.

The Director of Analytics Support for Programs will supervise and develop a team of analysts responsible for delivering highimpact analytics solutions and consultative support to internal stakeholders. The Director will prioritize, scope, and oversee analytics initiatives that advance strategic goals and improve program outcomes, while ensuring exceptional customer service, effective stakeholder engagement, and effective data governance.

This role is responsible for managing team performance, building analytical capacity, and aligning resources to deliver the highestvalue analytics support across the organization.

This position requires up to 10% travel, based on business needs, to support program initiatives, collaboration, and operational priorities.

Flexible work location within the state of Texas may be considered for qualified candidates.

Essential Functions

1 Analytics Team Leadership and Supervision: Executes planning, staffing, and performance management of their team to ensure effective, scalable, and highimpact analytics support across program areas within identified portfolio. Makes recommendations for improvements to team processes
2 Analytics Delivery & Quality Assurance: Ensures the development of highquality analyses, dashboards, reporting tools, and decisionsupport products. Oversees standards and processes that promote accuracy, consistency, usability, and timely delivery of analytics products
3 Program Partnership & Consultation: Guides relationships with program teams within identified portfolio to identify and prioritize analytics needs, translate business questions into actionable insights, and promote alignment between program objectives and agency strategic goals. Serves as a trusted advisor in using data and evidence to inform decisionmaking and drive organizational outcomes

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

Education: Graduation from an accredited fouryear college or university
Experience: At least five (5) years of experience in analytics or related fields
Substitutions: An advanced degree may substitute for two years of required experience

• A desire to selfreflect, give/receive feedback and continuously improve
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Proficiency with R or Python
• Experience with data visualization tools like Power BI, Tableau, etc.
• Consulting, data science, or other equally rigorous and quantitative experience preferred.
• Experience working with data from statewide education initiatives (i.e. High Quality Instructional Materials development and implementation, Reading and Math Academies, assessment item development, Strong Foundations Planning and Implementation, and Texas Instructional Leadership) is preferred.
• Experience with cloudbased analytics tools such as AWS is preferred
• Advanced Excel knowledge with expertise in data analysis functions is preferred
• Proficiency with SQL is preferred

New hires, rehires, and internal hires will typically receive a starting salary between the posted minimum and the average pay of employees within the same classification. Offers are based on the candidate's experience and qualifications and consider internal pay equity across employees performing similar work.

The top half of the posted salary range is generally reserved for candidates whose qualifications exceed the role's requirements. The maximum of the range is typically reserved for candidates who significantly exceed the required and preferred qualifications.
