Director of Advancement -Houston, TX

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  1. Provide oversight for strategy, execution, and measurement of the effectiveness of all Cenikor Foundation development, special events, major gifts, grants, capital campaigns, and donor relation efforts.
  2. Design and implement an advancement plan that meets the needs outlined in the strategic plan, and are tailored to the philanthropic goals of the Foundation.
  3. Develop and implement a focused strategy for the cultivation, solicitation and stewardship of donors.
  4. Plan and execute capital campaigns as outlined and approved with executive leadership.
  5. Prepare and/or provide oversight of the preparation of grants, proposals, gift acknowledgement letters and stewardship reports for prospects and donors on ongoing basis for each region/facility.
  6. Establish and maintain a prospect list for each region/facility.
  7. Assist board members and others to represent the organization effectively, to successfully solicit contributions and to cultivate current and prospective donors.
  8. Provide oversight for all foundation and philanthropic grants, including writing, submission, and grant calendar, including management of external and internal grant writers and their grant production.
  9. Work collaboratively with Events and Development Specialist to ensure oversight of all development/special event costs in accordance with pre-approved development plans and budgets. Ensure accurate documentation of donations, gift acknowledgement letters and reporting using Blackbaud.
  10. Develop ways for the community to become increasingly involved with Cenikor (including staff, the Board of Directors, the advisory board for each facility, and clients).
  11. Work with facility management teams to provide leadership, manage, train and supervise staff or contractors as needed related to event management, philanthropy or volunteer efforts. Suggest improvements where necessary.
  12. Articulate the mission, vision, values and goals of the Cenikor Foundation through correspondence, presentations and other opportunities.
  13. Ensure completion of Big 5 performance management tool by the required deadlines and use of SMART goals to support annual performance compensation review.
  14. Uphold the core principles of Cenikor's culture and create a positive working environment for all team members.
  15. Maintain strict confidentiality on all client and Foundation matters, referring questionable issues or activities to the Chief of Staff.
  16. Perform additional duties as assigned and consistent with the exempt functions as defined in this job description.

Education:

CFRE preferred

Experience:

  • Five years of Advancement, Development, Philanthropic Giving, Grant Writing, Public Relations, or related experience required.
  • Minimum of two years of leadership of development staff.
  • Experience with non-profit, substance use, health care, mental health or education is preferred.
