Full Job Description
We are looking for a Director of Accounting with a passion and interest in non-profit accounting to join our team. This position oversees daily financial operations, leads the accounting team, manages budgets/forecasting, ensures compliance (GAAP/IFRS), prepares financial statements, coordinates audits, and develops internal controls, acting as a key link between accounting tasks and executive financial strategy to maintain accuracy and support business goals.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Financial Operations: Directs workflow of the department. Manage daily operations and serve as backup to AP/AR, payroll, general ledger, reconciliations, cash flow, and month/year-end closes.
  • Reporting & Analysis: Prepare and analyze financial statements, reports, budgets, and forecasts, presenting findings to leadership. Lead monthly variance reviews with department managers.
  • Compliance & Controls: Enforce accounting policies (GAAP/IFRS), implement internal controls, and ensure regulatory adherence.
  • Team Leadership: Supervise, mentor, train, and delegate tasks to accounting staff, ensuring accuracy and goal achievement.
  • Audits & Strategy: Coordinate annual audits, liaise with external auditors, and provide financial data to support strategic decisions.
  • All other duties assigned include, but are not limited to, enhancing the Resident Experience.


Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or equivalent experience.
  • 3-5 years of experience.
  • Preferred: 2+ years of supervisory experience.
  • In-depth knowledge of corporate finance and accounting principles, laws, and best practices.
  • Must have strong mathematical and analytical skills.
  • Strong written and oral communication.
  • Excellent organizational and leadership skills.
  • Demonstrates a self-starter mindset with the ability to take ownership of tasks, anticipate needs, and work independently while seeking guidance when appropriate.
