Director of Quality - Quality Management
The Director will focus on supporting multiple nursing departments with performance improvement activities, including the development of quality metrics, data analysis and facilitation of corrective actions. There is also a component of chart abstraction and the need for good clinical judgements for reviewing records and determining a quality plan. Assists in providing for the management of patient care by means of clinical expertise gained in a specialized aspect of nursing care. Must have the ability to problem-solve, communicate with all staff and computer abilities.
Responsibilities include:
Supervises, coordinates, implements and directs the ongoing quality aspects of assigned nursing and patient care areas at Westchester Medical Center.
Participates in evaluation of quality nursing and clinical practice through peer review.
Assists in the establishment of quality standards for all aspects of nursing.
Coordinates the implementation of nursing quality policies and procedures by conducting staff conferences and through directives, as needed.
Assists in the development of quality programs for all staff.
Coordinates quality programs with specific department heads, as require.
Investigates and evaluates data and makes recommendations to improve quality patient care.
Participates in, monitors and evaluates quality improvement activities.
Participates in hospital and medical quality board committees.
Assists the Vice President of Hospital Nursing Services and Education with the development of department budgets.
Attend meetings, conferences and seminars as required.
Qualifications/Requirements:
Experience: 6 years of professional nursing experience, including 3 years at a supervisory level, required.
Education: Bachelor's degree in nursing and six years of professional nursing experience, including three years at a supervisory level.
Licenses / Certifications: Possession of a valid license and current registration, issued by the New York State Department of Education, as a Registered Professional Nurse.
