Job Summary and Qualifications

Job Summary:

The Director, Nursing Portfolio is responsible for category management of the Med-Surg portfolio, by developing and implementing a comprehensive expense management program partnering with a large integrated delivery network (IDN). This role oversees optimization of the GPO contract portfolio, product standardization initiatives, and supplier relationship management in collaboration with HealthTrust contracting teams. The Director builds and maintains strategic alliances with key stakeholders to ensure the success of the Med Surg expense management program.

Key Interactions - Health System Sourcing and Supply Chain Leadership, Regional and Facility Supply Chain Leadership, HealthTrust Clinical Directors and National Contracting Team

Major Responsibilities:

Leadership
  • Supports the development and execution of Med Surg expense management strategies aligned with member Health System goals, acute and non-acute.
  • Assess Med-Surg expense trends from variety of sources and make strategic recommendations for cost saving opportunities.
  • Develops, implements, and coordinates within the hospital or system:

-System wide Med-Surg savings opportunities

-Category management related to performance, product standardization and utilization

-Coordination of compliance and savings tracking of initiatives

-Coordination with the Member Sourcing and GPO National Contracting Teams

Customer Service
  • Provides superior and timely customer service to member Health System in all interactions
  • Responsible for managing customer expectations, driving alignment and delivering cost savings within established timelines
  • Interacts and develops relationships with internal and external stakeholders to better understand needs and challenges which may include clinicians, supply chain, and hospital leadership
  • Continuously improves customer solutions as it relates to service line savings opportunities
  • Builds and maintains strong working relationships with a variety of stakeholders within corporate and facility Supply Chain, Sourcing and Leadership teams

Financial
  • Establishes and meets expense savings goals for customers as requested
  • Provides cost saving enhancement strategies for the med-surg service line working with customer's sourcing and supply chain teams we well as HealthTrust contracting and Expense Management teams
  • Coordinates with HealthTrust analyst team to ensure monitoring and tracking of categories for use by the team to quantify savings solutions and ensure compliance targets are achieved.

Project Management
  • Directs multiple projects and tasks in a fast-paced environment that includes: Strong organizational skills, including the ability to plan, implement, and execute. The ability to focus and execute exceptional time management
  • Demonstrates the ability to develop a project plan for major and complex projects, including supplier education/ in servicing with customers to support contact adoption
  • Develops milestones for projects to determine outcomes are achieved that includes facilitating customer teams that lead to building consensus and contract implementation

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
  • Solid knowledge and understanding of healthcare industry, GPO, supply chain, and med-surg service line
  • Provides effective communication which includes verbal, listening, writing, and presentation skills to a variety of stakeholders from executives to staff.
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a professional, multi-disciplinary, matrix reporting team as a group leader, facilitator, or participant
  • Demonstrated track record of success.
  • Demonstrates effective problem-solving skills which includes understanding issues, ability to simply and process complex issues, understanding the difference between critical details and unimportant facts.
  • Practice and adhere to the Code of Conduct philosophy and mission and value statement.


Education & Experience Requirements:
  • Bachelor's Degree (Supply Chain, Healthcare, Business, Finance), required.
  • Masters/Graduate Degree, preferred.
  • 7 years' experience in a healthcare-related role, required.
  • 3 years' experience in management, required.
  • Previous experience in supply chain, value analysis, and sourcing, preferred.
