Description

The Director of Medical Education Programs position in the MaineHealth Department of Medical Education will work collaboratively with other departmental, institutional, academic and community leaders to provide administrative direction and strategic planning set forth to enhance Undergraduate Medical Education (UME), Graduate Medical Education(GME) and Advanced Practice Provider Education(APPE) across the health care system . This role will also include responsibilities related to staffing, budgets and resource management, communications, and the advocacy for provider-level learners at MaineHealth. Ideally, someone who has experience contributing to operational decision making and implementing change will be helpful as the department continues to expand education services and programs across three regions and other system-wide entities. Previous managerial experience is required. Experience in the education and training of health professions learners is desired.

Summary:

Under general direction of the Vice President for Medical Education (VPME), the Director of Medical Education will have primary responsibility for the management and operations of the Department of Medical Education (DME). Work is diversified, requiring independent decisions within a broad scope of practices and precedent. Position is expected to resolve problems of varying nature with minimal direction.

Required Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs)

  1. Education: Master's or Doctoral degree preferred.
  2. License/Certification: N/A.
  3. Experience: A minimum of two to three (2-3) years' experience in Medical Education; Five (5) or more years preferred. Experience in the education and training of health professions learners is desired.
  4. Effective managerial experience and skills, Previous Managerial experience.
  5. Comprehensive knowledge of information technology systems.
  6. High level of managerial and organizational skills; ability to supervise and support employee performance.
  7. High level of written and verbal communication skills required. Ability to interact with diverse physicians and managers.
  8. Knowledge of Undergraduate, Graduate and Continuing Medical Education.


Additional Information

The pay range for this position is $122,408.00 to $165,630.40 per year.

Compensation for part-time positions is determined on a prorated basis consistent with the scheduled hours and applicable full-time equivalent (FTE).
