Job Description - Materials Management Director 10132

Role Overview
The Materials Management Director is a senior leadership position responsible for overseeing the procurement, inventory, and distribution of all supplies, equipment, and services essential to patient care and hospital and or clinic operations. The role ensures that the right materials are available at the right time, while controlling costs, optimizing inventory, and maintaining compliance with healthcare regulation

Key Responsibilities
  • Procurement & Purchasing Oversight: Lead the evaluation, negotiation, and execution of purchasing contracts, including Group Purchasing Organization (GPO) agreements, to secure cost-effective supplies and equipment.
  • Inventory Management: Develop and implement strategies to maintain optimal stock levels, minimize waste, and control costs through regular usage analysis and forecasting.
  • Vendor & Supplier Management: Build and maintain strong relationships with vendors, ensuring quality, service, and cost efficiency.
  • Distribution Coordination: Oversee the flow of materials from receiving to proper storage and distribution to clinical, surgical, and administrative departments
  • Budget & Financial Oversight: Participate in budget planning, ensure procurement activities align with approved budgets, and analyze financial data to support decision-making.
  • Compliance & Safety: Ensure all supplies and equipment meet safety, quality, and regulatory standards, with consideration for environmental impact.
  • Technology & Systems: Manage and upgrade materials management systems, including inventory software, to improve efficiency and accuracy.
  • Team Leadership: Supervise and train materials management staff, ensuring compliance with policies and procedures.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Skills: Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills; expertise in inventory control, cost optimization, and vendor management; familiarity with healthcare supply chain trends and technologies.
  • Certifications: certifications in supply chain, healthcare management, or procurement preferred.
