PURPOSE OF THE POSITION: The Director, Marketing and Communications, will oversee, coordinate, and participate in the development of marketing and other communication strategies in alignment with the vision and strategic plan of RPS 205.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: Communications Coordinator, Audio/Video Production Manager, Graphic Design Coordinator

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. In addition to the requirements listed below, regular attendance is an essential function of this position.
  1. Ensures that all actions are in concert with the Board policies as well as the mission statement, beliefs, objectives, and parameters found in the Board's strategic plan.
  2. Participates in job training and professional growth opportunities in order to enhance ability to perform the essential functions of the job.
  3. Performs other related duties as assigned for the purpose of ensuring an efficient and effective work environment.
  4. Creates, maintains, and successfully executes the district's marketing strategy and plan.
  5. Leads the communications team in creating marketing materials that promote the district's vision, image, identity, brand standards and style and ensures each is illustrated clearly and appropriately.
  6. Directs and implements the organization's advertising and promotional activities.
  7. Builds brand awareness and positioning within the community.
  8. Oversees the management of the district website, internal and external pages.
  9. Supports the Communications Department in monitoring reception and lobby areas of district schools, offices and buildings, and recommends and implements ways to display public information and improve user experience.
  10. Oversees social media marketing strategy and content marketing.
  11. Participates in community events to stay current on issues affecting the district and the community.
  12. Provides leadership to the communications department, executive leadership team and all central office and school-based staff in shaping a positive image for the district.
  13. Oversees relationships and contracts for the district website and other vendors working with the district's communications department.
  14. Oversees the management and development of communication plans in collaboration with other departments.
  15. Oversees the management of all communication tools.
  16. Researches and implements the latest and best practices in Public Relations, Marketing and Branding.

QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor's degree in, Marketing, or related field required; Masters degree preferred. 3-5 years of experience in marketing and long-range planning preferred. Experience leading a team required.

WORK CALENDAR:12 Months

WORKING CONDITIONS:Moderate in-district travel as well as intermittent in-state and out-of-state travel. Intermittent prolonged and irregular hours of work.
