Position Summary:The Director of Legal Affairs is responsible for keeping up to date on local, regional, and national affairs, policies and legislation affecting health care and the Health Plan. The position is expected to stay abreast of all regulatory and legislative matters to ensure the Health Plan maintains compliance with federal and
tate rules and regulations. The position is responsible for advising management and providing oversight in the development and implementation of programs, policies, initiatives, and processes as they relate to external affairs to effectively meet all applicable laws and regulations.
This position also provides a wide array of legal services required to protect Health Plan interests. The Director will research and interpret assigned legal issues, assess impacts on the Health Plan operations and evaluate available legal recourse.
Qualifications:Required:
- Licensed and in good standing to practice law in the State of Michigan.
- Doctor of Jurisprudence.
- Five (5) years related legal experience, including complex contract review, legislative and regulatory review, and interpretation with at least three years of experience in managed health care.
Preferred:
- Three (3) years' experience in a progressively more responsible leadership role with direct reports, leading or assisting in all phases of effective supervision.
- Medicaid health plan experience.
- Experience in regulatory affairs, legislative affairs, and/or lobbying.
