Overview

Plans, directs and monitors strategic and tactical goals for the Laboratory Department in collaboration with the Medical Director and other clinical and operational stakeholders involved in the management of hospital laboratory services. Directs, monitors and manages all day-to-day administrative aspects of the department, including financial, operational and human resource issues. Develops and approves technical and operational policies and procedures, and ensures compliance with regulatory and accrediting agencies. Creates a highly efficient, accountable, and collaborative team environment with staff and with customers (physicians, nursing, and outreach clinics). Responsible for ensuring the highest standards of patient safety and quality are followed and maintained.

Qualifications

Education
  • Bachelor's Degree in Medical Technology, or other acceptable science from a recognized college or university. Required or
  • In Lieu of Bachelor's degree, Associates in Medical Technology and 7 years of Medical Technologist experience Required
  • Master's degree in Business Administration or Health Administration Preferred
Work Experience
  • 5 years clinical experience and progressive leadership experience Required
Licenses and Certifications
  • Certification in medical technology; certification as a medical technologist or medical laboratory scientist by the American Society of Clinical Pathologists (ASCP), AMT (American Medical Technologists) or AAB (American Association of Bioanalysts).
    AAB provisional certification not accepted Required
