Job Summary and QualificationsThe Cell Processing Lab Manager will oversee and direct procedures performed on products, serve as a clinical resource, act as a role model for staff, and act as the liaison between staff and upper management. The Manager will assume responsibility and accountability for efficient and effective management of human and financial resources for the Cell Processing Lab.
What you will do in this role:- Act as the Cell Processing Laboratory Quality Management Supervisor.
- Develop or revise policies and procedures in collaboration with professional staff of the Cell Processing Laboratory and Sarah Cannon Cancer Center.
- Manage standard operating procedures database for the Cell Processing Laboratory.
- Establish protocols and develop mechanisms for validation of all new procedures, instrumentation and reagents for accuracy, precision, sensitivity, and cost effectiveness.
- Establish and maintain quality control and quality assurance systems for all cell processing procedures to ensure reliability of equipment and processing procedures and the competency of personnel for the optimization of patient care.
- Provide supervision of the Cell Processing Laboratory.
- Maintain competency in all areas of the Cell Processing Laboratory.
- Work with peers in a team-leadership capacity to maintain accreditation standards as defined by FDA, FACT, CAP, JC, CLIA, AABB or other applicable accreditation organizations/regulatory agencies; and to coordinate regulatory and accreditation survey activities and follow-up to ensure compliance with assistance from other departments as necessary. Manage regulatory inspections within the program.
- Support the goals and mission of the Sarah Cannon Cancer Center at Centennial Medical Center.
- Provide education and technical demonstrations to students, nursing staff, visitors and other healthcare professionals; assist in orienting and mentoring staff.
- Participate in performance improvement activities; quality improvement and patient safety activities; assist in maintaining compliance with JC accreditation and other internal and external regulatory standards including Code of Conduct.
- Assume additional administrative and supervisory responsibilities as requested.
What qualifications you will need:- B.A. or B.S. in Medical Technology or related field (Chemistry, Biology, etc.) required; Master of Science degree in Medical Technology, Health Administration, or related field preferred.
- State of Tennessee Medical Technologist License (ASCP or AMT) required.
- State of Tennessee Laboratory Supervisor License required.
- 5 years of experience in cell processing/cryopreservation required.
- Excellent computer skills (Microsoft Office) required.
