Description Title III at Jackson State University is accepting applications for its Director position.
Examples of Duties- Ability to work some evenings and weekends.
- Provides overall administrative and supervisory leadership for the day-to-day implementation, operation and strategic direction of the program throughout the fall, spring, and summer semesters.
- Conducts and coordinates comprehensive planning, budgeting, staffing, reporting and evaluation of all program activities and initiatives.
- Supervises full-time staff including the Success Coach and student workers, providing ongoing professional development, performance evaluation and mentorship.
- Develops, implements and continuously evaluates program policies, procedures and best practices to ensure program effectiveness and compliance with institutional and federal guidelines.
- Prepares and submits required program reports, correspondence, memoranda and statistical data to institutional leadership and funding agencies.
- Serves as the primary liaison between the program, institutional administration, funding agencies and external partners.
- Collaborates with faculty, departmental chairs and academic staff on behalf of program participants to advocate for student needs, resolve academic challenges and create pathways for student success within their respective disciplines.
- Develops and oversees comprehensive spending plans encompassing student scholarships, housing, meals, travel, program activities and contracted professional services.
- Monitors expenditures throughout the fiscal year and ensures responsible allocation of funds in alignment with grant requirements and institutional policies.
- Perform other duties as assigned by institutional leadership.
Typical Qualifications- Master's Degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) related area.
- Three (3) to Five (5) years of experience teaching in a STEM related area in a high school and/ or higher education.
- Standard 5-year Teaching License in a STEM related area.
- Proven experience writing and/or implementing competitive STEM grants.
- Proven experience working effectively with low-income, first generation, and students with disabilities in need of academic assistance.
- Proven experience collaborating with college STEM personnel and outside STEM related agencies.
- Proven experience providing and/ or organizing individual and group tutorial sessions.
- Experience supervising staff and student workers.
- Experience managing grants, including budgeting and program management.
