GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES

Under the direction of the Chief Academic Officer, the position is responsible for coordinating the implementation of technology into the classroom and curriculum, including the instructional technology program, library media program, online and distance learning programs, Planetarium, and Instructional Resource Center.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

• Direct instructional technology implementation and integration for the division.
• Provide leadership in the integration of technology in schools.
• Promote the development of programs to enhance instructional technology management and improve K-12 instructional strategies through the use of technology.
• Manage daily operations, and policy and budget development of assigned programs.
• Maintain oversight of the instructional technology program, library media program, Planetarium, and Instructional Resource Center.
• Work collaboratively with instructional coordinators to develop and conduct division-wide staff development for instructional staff.
• Participate in division and departmental strategic planning.
• Interview and recommend candidates to fill instructional coordinator and specialist positions.
• Serve as a point of contact between the Department of Teaching and Learning and the Department of Technology.
• Develop instructional technology curriculum resources across PreK-12 content areas, working in partnership with content-based curriculum coordinators.
• Support implementation of computer-science standards and provide leadership in new technologies, making intentional connections with academic and career readiness.
• Provide instructional coaching professional learning to instructional technology specialists and library media specialists, working to align to other content coaching approaches supported in the division.
• Responsible for instructional technology, library media, textbook and other assigned budget cost centers.
• Perform related work as required.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

Considerable knowledge of instructional practices, models of service delivery, instructional technology applications, Virginia Standards of Learning, Virginia Standards of Accreditation, and Virginia Standards of Quality; considerable knowledge of research methods and project management techniques; excellent oral and written communication skills; demonstrate the ability to direct professional staff members and manage multiple assignments with critical deadlines; demonstrate the ability to define problems and apply problem-solving techniques.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

Required: Master's degree in education administration, an endorsement in Administration and Supervision PreK-12, five (5) years of successful experience as a teacher, instructional technology specialist, or library media specialist, and at least three (3) years of successful experience as a school-based or central office administrator.

Preferred: A Certificate of Advanced Study (C.A.S.) or doctoral degree, along with experience in instructional coaching and curriculum development.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS

Must have the use of sensory skills in order to effectively communicate and interact with other employees and the public using the telephone and personal contact as normally defined by the ability to see, read, talk, hear, handle or feel objects and controls. Frequent sitting, walking, bending, grasping, fingering, repetitive motion, and reaching. Occasional standing, stooping, and driving. Ability to lift up to 20 pounds frequently. Requires timely and regular adherence to established work schedules.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS

Possession of a valid driver's license.

Position requires timely and regular attendance.

Salary Range: From/To

Salary range: $105,462-$153,833

Salary will be based on job-related creditable years of full-time, verified work experience. Entry-level salary will be awarded at the time of hire. Upon the return of employment verification forms from the candidate's current and previous employers, the salary will be adjusted if creditable full-time experience is confirmed.
