The Opportunity

The Director, Voice & Data Networks provides leadership and oversight for enterprise voice, data, wireless, and unified communications services across a large hospital system. Reporting to the Vice President of Information Technology, this role ensures highly available, secure, scalable, and resilient network services that support patient care, clinical mobility, business operations, and organizational growth. The Director leads network modernization, daily operations, vendor partnerships, workforce development, and continuous improvement across the enterprise network environment.

This position requires the employee to be located in Colorado.

This position directs the department's activities and resources to ensure alignment with the mission, values, and objectives of the organization. The Director is responsible for operational performance, infrastructure planning, lifecycle management, and service reliability for voice, data, wireless, and unified communications technologies. The role works closely with IT, clinical, operational, security, and facilities partners to ensure the network environment supports mission-critical healthcare operations and evolving technology needs.

Key Responsibilities

The Director, Voice & Data Networks plays a key role in the health system's strategic and operational efforts by:

  • Provide enterprise leadership for voice, data, wireless, and unified communications infrastructure services across the health system.
  • Establish the strategy, roadmap, standards, and governance for enterprise network architecture and operations.
  • Lead planning, implementation, optimization, support, and lifecycle management of network and communications technologies.
  • Drive large-scale technology initiatives including wireless modernization, unified communications transformation, location services, network resiliency improvements, and voice platform consolidation.
  • Ensure network services meet requirements for availability, performance, cybersecurity, resiliency, disaster recovery, and business continuity.
  • Collaborate with Infrastructure, Security, Clinical Engineering, Digital Services, Clinical Operations, and business leaders to align technology investments with organizational priorities.
  • Direct operational support, incident response, problem management, root-cause analysis, service restoration, and continuous improvement activities.
  • Develop departmental goals, budgets, staffing plans, operational metrics, service level objectives, and performance reporting.
  • Build and develop a high-performing team through coaching, workforce planning, succession planning, cross-training, and professional development.
  • Manage vendor relationships, contract performance, support escalations, technology roadmaps, and service quality expectations.
  • Support capital planning, operating budgets, financial stewardship, audit readiness, and compliance with organizational standards.


Candidate Qualifications

The successful candidate is an experienced technology leader with strong expertise in enterprise networking, telecommunications, and infrastructure operations.This individual demonstrates the ability to lead technical teams, manage complex technology environments, and deliver large-scale infrastructure initiatives in a fast-paced healthcare setting. The ideal candidate combines technical depth, operational leadership, strong customer service orientation, and a commitment to supporting exceptional patient care through reliable technology services.

The successful candidate will meet the following requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering, Business, or a related field.
  • Minimum of eight (8) years of progressively responsible experience in network engineering, telecommunications, infrastructure, or related technology disciplines.
  • Minimum of five (5) years of leadership experience managing technical teams and operational functions.
  • Experience leading enterprise-scale network operations, infrastructure projects, and modernization efforts.
  • Experience managing budgets, vendor relationships, technology contracts, service levels, and cross-functional initiatives.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead operational improvements, manage competing priorities, and communicate effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Cisco networking experience required, including enterprise routing, switching, wireless, unified communications, SD-WAN, network security, and data center networking technologies.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Healthcare industry experience preferred, including experience supporting hospitals, health systems, ambulatory care environments, or other clinical organizations.
  • Experience with Cisco Catalyst, Nexus, Wireless, DNA Center, ThousandEyes, ISE, and collaboration platforms.
  • Experience leading enterprise network modernization, wireless transformation, voice transformation, or unified communications initiatives.
  • Experience supporting mission-critical environments requiring high availability, resiliency, and 24x7 operational support.
  • Knowledge of healthcare technology environments, clinical workflows, patient care dependencies, and infrastructure requirements.

Preferred Certifications

  • One or more of the following certifications are preferred: CCNP, CCIE, Cisco wireless or collaboration certifications.
