General Position Description

The Director, Individual and Planned Giving directs and executes the comprehensive, strategic fundraising plan to support institutional funding priorities and college goals, including annual and endowed student scholarships, endowed faculty chairs, academic program support, capital projects, and special programs benefiting students, faculty, and the community. Manages the Individual and Planned Giving team, leading all aspects of Individual and Planned Giving, including annual funds, alumni relations, leadership annual giving, major and planned giving, philanthropy programs, and outreach. Brings subject matter expertise to related areas, as well as federal, state, and local regulations, to support the alignment of division goals to college goals.

Fully On-site: Employee performs all of their job duties at a Valencia College location, with flexibility in the work schedule, if appropriate.

Essential Job Functions

Description of Job Function

1. Ensures Individual and Planned Giving development strategies reflect integrity, best practices, and established ethical principles of philanthropy.

2. Manages a portfolio of leadership annual and major gift donors and prospects, meeting annual goals for contacts, proposals, and contributions.

3. Collaborates with the Chief Advancement Officer (CAO) to develop and implement annual and multi-year fundraising plans that support college goals.

4. Supervises staff responsible for Individual and Planned Giving programs including annual fund/alumni, leadership annual giving, major and planned giving, volunteer leadership, stewardship, and special fundraising initiatives.

5. In partnership with the Director, Donor Relations and Experiences, the Director, Individual and Planned Giving follows the Donor Relations practices and tracks activity in Valencia's CRM. Collaborates and coordinates with Donor Relations and Experiences team on engagement planning, recognition, impact reporting, stewardship events, and creating follow-up plans.

6. Uses data-driven metrics to monitor and evaluate development processes and performance outcomes and tracks Pipeline, Prospect, and Opportunity Management in Valencia's CRM.

7. In collaboration with the CAO, closely manages the major gifts program and its core processes, including pipeline development, prospect qualification, and moves management, and communicates progress toward philanthropic goals with the CAO.

8. Represents the Foundation at community events, often occurring in the early mornings, evenings, and weekends.

9. Collaborates with Valencia College community relations and marketing teams to ensure alignment of communications plans with goals and adherence to Valencia standards.

10. Recommends, updates, implements, and monitors advancement policies and procedures relating to individual and planned giving.

11. In collaboration with the CAO, develops and manages fundraising and campaign budgets.

12. Performs other related duties as assigned.
