Job Description

The Director I, Quality (Project) provides strategic quality leadership for a major project, directly supporting project execution and delivery. This role is primarily engaged in project management activities that establish and maintain the quality direction for the project, ensuring compliance with client, regulatory, and company standards. The Director I, Quality (Project) applies deep expertise to drive quality outcomes, resolve complex challenges, and make decisions that impact project success, client satisfaction, and compliance.

Scope

This position requires specialized skills and knowledge to address the unique challenges and complexities of project quality management. The Director I, Quality (Project) has significant influence over project quality policies, procedures, and outcomes, and is responsible for leading the project quality team.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead all aspects of project quality management, including technical quality, adherence to client, regulatory, and company requirements, and administrative functions (budgeting, forecasting, staffing, etc.).
  • Serve as the primary quality leader for the project, acting as the Project Quality Manager.
  • Implement and maintain project-specific quality management systems, including AS9100 compliance.
  • Facilitate the implementation of Operating System Requirements (OSR) for the project.
  • Maintain effective relationships with project stakeholders, including internal and external clients, regulatory agencies, and the quality community.
  • Manage and develop project quality personnel, providing training, mentorship, and performance feedback.
  • Analyze project situations, identify and forecast quality-related risks, and implement effective solutions.
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable project policies, procedures, and standards.
  • Support project Health, Safety & Environmental and Sustainability initiatives.
  • Prepare and present quality reports, metrics, and recommendations to project leadership.
  • Travel as required to project sites and client locations.
  • Other project-related duties as assigned.

  • Accredited four (4) year degree or global equivalent in applicable field of study and eighteen (18) years of work-related experience or a combination of education and directly related experience equal to twenty-two (22) years if non-degreed; some locations may have additional or different qualifications in order to comply with local requirements
  • Ability to communicate effectively with audiences that include but are not limited to management, coworkers, clients, vendors, contractors, and other stakeholders
  • Job related technical knowledge necessary to complete the job
  • Ability to learn and apply knowledge of applicable local, state/province, and federal/national statutes and guidelines
  • Ability to attend to detail and work in a time-conscious and time-effective manner


Other Job Requirements

  • Familiarity with AS9100 quality management system standards is required.
  • Active Top-Secret security clearance or the ability to obtain and maintain a Top-Secret clearance is required.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with project teams, management, clients, vendors, contractors, and other stakeholders.
  • Job-related technical knowledge necessary to complete the project quality function.
  • Ability to learn and apply knowledge of applicable local, state/province, and federal/national statutes and guidelines.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to work in a time-conscious and time-effective manner.


Preferred Qualifications

  • Accredited four (4) year degree or global equivalent in engineering/technical field preferred.
  • Advanced degree (e.g., Master's degree or global equivalent) in engineering, technical, or administrative discipline preferred.
  • Professional engineering registration preferred.
  • Auditor certification by outside agency (e.g., RAB, ASQ, IQA, or local equivalent) preferred.
  • Internal Lead Auditor certification required.
  • Eighteen (18) years of related quality/project experience.
  • Excellent interpersonal, leadership, and decision-making skills.
  • Demonstrated experience managing an AS9100 quality program supporting US Government contracts is strongly preferred.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Comprehensive understanding of project management, business processes, and quality systems.
  • Ability to collaborate with project executives, managers, and site leaders to drive quality improvements.
  • Ability to proactively communicate Quality/Continuous Performance Improvement direction and approach.
