WHAT IS THE OPPORTUNITY?

We're looking for an experienced director to lead the City National Bank (CNB) migration of employees and HR systems to RBC. You'll own this critical initiative from strategy through execution, shaping the technical roadmaps and architecture that will define how two organizations come together.
This is early-stage, high-impact work. You'll work with both CNB and RBC stakeholders to assess our current systems landscape and help recommend the path forward, develop multiple roadmaps, and make key architectural decisions while coordinating across complex technical and organizational challenges.
While focus with be on CNB migration, you will also be responsible for leading M&A as they relate to HR Systems and Employee Migration. You'll report to the Senior Director of HR Global Payroll & Integration Technology and sit on his leadership team.

WHAT WILL YOU DO?
  • Shape, recommend, and implement the technical strategy for CNB HR systems migration, working with key stakeholders
  • Drive architecture decisions around systems consolidation, integrations, and how CNB systems will integrate into RBC's Workday-centric ecosystem
  • Develop multiple roadmaps across different migration scenarios and workstreams
  • Lead cross-functional teams and stakeholders across RBC and CNB.
  • Lead additional M&A as they relate to HR Systems and Employees
  • Lead end-to-end delivery of complex HR technology initiatives, leveraging AI/ML tools to streamline lifecycles from planning to hyper-care
  • Foster a culture of innovation through coaching, upskilling teams, and developing future-focus roadmaps
  • Advocate for architecture-led solution design, prototyping, and quality engineering to future-proof HR program delivery
  • Engage with senior leadership, business units, and technology partners to secure alignment, resources, and executive sponsorship.
  • Oversee multi-year project timelines, budgets, and resource allocation; manage risks, dependencies, and scope changes.
  • Utilize project management tools and software to maintain project documentation, track milestones, and generate executive reporting
  • Provides leadership in the development and implementation of operational strategies, policies, and standards for application services, ensuring alignment with enterprise objectives and fostering innovation to address complex challenges.
  • Oversees the design, development, and modernization of platforms, managing cross functional teams and collaborating with senior leadership to drive transformational technology changes that enhance business growth and operational efficiency.
  • Establishes and maintains strategic relationships with internal stakeholders and business leaders, providing expert counsel and ensuring the delivery of high quality solutions.
  • Leads and mentors senior managers and teams, ensuring effective performance management, resource allocation, and the successful execution of strategic plans and initiatives.
  • Manages software development initiatives of significant complexity, applying advanced technical expertise to solve abstract problems, and making independent decisions across business units.
  • Makes independent decisions on program, technical or operational strategy for the department, providing leadership, coaching and mentorship through senior managers and managers. Sets strategic direction for the department or area receiving high level direction from senior leaders.
  • Drives innovation across areas of responsibility identifying opportunities for making operational changes and practices, solving highly complex problems broadly related to software development.
  • Leads cross functional collaboration efforts, fostering strong internal relationships across the organization and external relationships to drive business outcomes.


WHAT DO YOU NEED TO SUCCEED?

Must have:
  • Undergraduate degree
  • Demonstrated ability in written and oral communication skills along with strong presentation skills. Ability to determine the information and communication needs of the stakeholders and project.
  • Strong organizational, project management and time management capabilities.
  • Expert knowledge of a broad spectrum of IT infrastructure, systems, and services, and a strong understanding of the financial services industry.
  • Exceptional organizational change management skills and knowledge of best practices.
  • Strategic thinker with excellent interpersonal skills to work across functions and businesses.
  • Demonstrated leadership ability, with at least 10 years of experience managing large and complex transformation programs.
  • Demonstrated strategic conceptualization, analytical and planning skills.
  • Expert knowledge of program and project plan development & management, scheduling methodology, waterfall and iterative methodologies, program and project metrics, analysis, and status reporting.
  • Superior staff management and project management skills; demonstrated verbal and written communication skills and effective strategic problem-solving, technical lead and facilitation skills.
  • Demonstrated skill working effectively with a diverse group of key stakeholders and experience fostering an inclusive environment.
  • 10+ years of hands-on general technology experience with a focus on software, hardware, end -user computing, platform, data engineering and related technologies.
  • Experience in managing multiple interconnected projects, overseeing dependencies, resolving conflicts, and optimizing resources across teams to prevent delays and ensure cohesive execution

Nice-to-have:
  • Ability to facilitate between and influence key decision makers
  • Financial services experience with multiple HR platforms and technologies including Payroll & Incentive Compensation
  • Knowledge of multiple HR platforms (SAP, Workday, UKG Pro, cloud/on-premise) and technologies including cloud (AWS, Azure) and on-premises implementations
  • Professional program/project management certification (PMP)
