Position Summary

MDI NetworX is seeking a Director, HR & Finance to lead both functions under a single, unified role. This is a deliberately combined position: as MDI moves toward an offshore-supported delivery model for routine HR and Finance operational work, we need one leader who can set strategy and maintain oversight across both functions, while directly managing the offshore teams executing the day-to-day work.

Reporting to the COO, this person will balance strategic HR and Finance leadership - policy, compliance, planning, and decision-making - with hands-on management of offshore support staff handling transactional HR and Finance tasks. The ideal candidate is equally comfortable setting compensation philosophy and reviewing a reconciliation, and sees real efficiency value in running HR and Finance as a combined, offshore-enabled function rather than two separate departments.

Key Responsibilities

HR Leadership
  • Own HR strategy, policy, and compliance across all jurisdictions in which MDI operates, including multi-state employment law considerations.
  • Oversee talent acquisition, onboarding, and offboarding processes.
  • Lead employee relations matters and maintain a consistent performance management framework.
  • Oversee compensation and benefits administration, including plan design and vendor management.
  • Own and maintain the HRIS platform and associated reporting.

Finance Leadership
  • Oversee core financial operations, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger, and financial reporting.
  • Ensure timely and accurate month-end and year-end close.
  • Lead budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow oversight in partnership with the COO.
  • Support internal and external audit processes and ensure ongoing financial compliance.

Offshore Team Management (Cross-Functional)
  • Serve as the primary point of oversight for offshore HR and Finance support staff, ensuring quality, productivity, and adherence to defined service levels.
  • Develop and maintain clear process documentation and playbooks to enable effective delegation of routine HR and Finance tasks to the offshore team.
  • Determine, in partnership with the COO, which HR and Finance functions are well-suited for offshore delivery versus those that should remain onshore.
  • Ensure offshore handling of sensitive HR and financial data (e.g., PII, payroll, compensation data) meets MDI's data security and compliance standards.

Required Qualifications
  • 5-8 years of combined HR and Finance experience, including experience at a director or senior manager level in at least one of the two functions.
  • Experience managing offshore, outsourced, or distributed teams, ideally within a multi-shore delivery model.
  • Solid working knowledge of HR compliance requirements (including multi-state employment law) and core finance/accounting principles (GAAP, financial reporting).
  • Experience with HRIS platforms and financial systems (e.g., NetSuite, ADP, or similar).
  • Strong process design and documentation skills, with demonstrated ability to build playbooks that enable effective task delegation.
  • Excellent judgment and discretion in handling sensitive employee and financial information.
  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Willingness to travel occasionally for in-person collaboration, given the hybrid work arrangement.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in healthcare, insurance, or B2B services industries.
  • SHRM-CP/SCP, PHR/SPHR, or equivalent HR certification.
  • CPA, or progress toward CPA certification.
  • Experience building an HR or Finance shared-services / offshore support model from the ground up.
  • MBA or equivalent advanced degree.

What Success Looks Like
  • HR and Finance operations run smoothly with clear, well-documented delegation between onshore and offshore teams.
  • Compliance risk is proactively identified and managed across both HR and Finance functions.
  • The offshore support team consistently meets defined quality and productivity standards.
  • Payroll cycles and month-end/year-end close run accurately and on schedule.
  • Employee experience and financial accuracy both improve measurably as the combined function matures.

Compensation & Benefits

MDI NetworX offers a competitive compensation package, including base salary commensurate with experience, along with a comprehensive benefits program.
