Full Job Description
Director of Human Resources

Rubbercraft block is seeking a strategic and hands-on Director of Human Resources to lead HR operations at our Long Beach, California manufacturing facility and coordinate HR efforts at our site in Tempe Arizona. This role will partner closely with site and business leadership to align people strategies with operational objectives, strengthen employee engagement, and build organizational capability through employee development and succession planning. The ideal candidate brings strong manufacturing HR leadership experience and the ability to operate effectively in a fast-paced, hands-on environment. Bilingual English/Spanish is strongly preferred.

Key Responsibilities

Strategic HR Leadership
  • Develop and execute HR strategies aligned with business and operationalobjectives.
  • Serve as a trusted HR partner to site leadership, providing guidance on workforce planning, organizational effectiveness, employee relations, and talent management.
  • Promote a culture of accountability, continuous improvement, collaboration, and high performance.
  • Lead and support organizational change initiatives that strengthen business performance.

Employee Development & Succession Planning
  • Develop structured training, development, and career-growth programs for hourly and salaried employees.
  • Partner with leaders toidentifycritical talent, strengthen succession plans, and build internal pipelines for key roles.
  • Support technical skills development, cross-training, and workforce capability initiatives.
  • Coach leadersonperformance management, employee development, and career conversations.

Employee Engagement & Culture
  • Develop and lead initiatives that strengthen employee engagement, communication, recognition, and retention.
  • Foster an inclusive, high-performing workplace where employees feel valued and supported.
  • Partner with leaders to proactively address employee relations matters and reinforce company values and expectations.

Compliance & Policy Administration
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and applicable aerospace and defense requirements.
  • Maintain strong knowledge of California employment law and ensure consistent application of HR policies and practices.
  • Support audits, regulatory reporting, investigations, and other compliance activities as needed.

Compensation & Benefits
  • Support competitive andequitablecompensation practices, including job evaluations, salary reviews, and incentive programs.
  • Lead and support annual performance and merit review processes.
  • Partner with leadership and Corporate HR on benefits and other employee programs.

HR Operations & Analytics
  • Leverage HR data and workforce metrics to identify trends and support business decisions.
  • Ensure accurate and timely HR records, reporting, and HRIS administration.
  • Identify opportunities to improve HR processes, systems, and overall service delivery.

Job Qualifications

Education: Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field; Master's degree or MBA preferred.

Years Experience:
  • 10+ years of progressive HR experience, including at least 5 years supporting a manufacturing environment.
  • Previous HR leadership experience required.
  • Aerospace or defense industry experiencestronglypreferred.

Skills:
  • Bilingual English/Spanish strongly preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of California employment law, employee relations, HR compliance, and HR operations.
  • Proven experience with employee development, succession planning, and talent management.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead organizational change and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Strong communication, coaching, influencing, and interpersonal skills across all organizational levels.
  • Proficiency with HRIS platforms and workforce analytics.
  • SHRM-CP/SCP or PHR/SPHR certification a plus.

Work Environment
  • Onsite position within a fast-paced manufacturing facility in Long Beach, California.
  • Regular interaction with production employees, functional leaders, and senior leadership.
  • Occasional travel may be required.
