Department

Department of Risk Management/Insurance, Real Estate and Legal Studies - Herbert Wertheim College of Business

Responsibilities

Strategic Leadership and Advisory Board Management
The Director leads the development and implementation of the objectives and strategic goals of the FSU Real Estate Center. Acts as the highly visible, senior external-facing leader and chief liaison to real estate industry personnel, employers, and alumni. Leverages an established industry network to expand opportunities for the Center. Manages the Center's Executive Advisory Board, including directing Board communications and meetings, identifying and cultivating prominent industry leaders for new membership, assisting Board subcommittees, and reporting to the Board at its biannual meetings.

Industry Engagement and Professional Events
Provides the framework, strategic vision, and guidance for the Center's professional events and activities, ensuring they serve as premier networking and talent pipeline opportunities. Oversees the annual TRENDS conference, the FSU-Kislak Market Strategy Forums, the Evan Jennings Speaker Series, the Real Deal & Entrepreneurs Series, and any future forums designed to advance the preeminence of the real estate program. Collaborates with faculty and external stakeholders to ensure programming reflects current industry trends, technologies, and market opportunities.

Student Success and Career Pathways
Responsible for connecting students in the real estate program with internships, mentorships, industry projects, and full-time career pathways through strategic employer partnerships. Coordinates the Center's support of student activities, including the FSU Real Estate Society. Directs the Center's program manager and other staff in the awarding of fellowships, travel grants, and administrative assistance for student participation in corporate tours, case competitions, networking opportunities, mentoring, and other experiential learning activities.

Center Administration and Operations
Supervises Center staff and oversees the Center's day-to-day administrative and financial operations. Coordinates Center communications with alumni, Executive Board members, sponsors, employers, students, and faculty. Ensures compliance with applicable University and State of Florida policies and requirements.

Program Advocacy and Brand Management
Serves as the primary external face of the Real Estate Center to industry leaders and professional organizations to articulate the successes and objectives of the Program, its faculty, and its students. Works with the College's PR & marketing team to develop branding and messaging that elevates the Center's national reputation. Assures that the FSUREC brand, mission, products, and services are consistently presented in a strong, positive image to relevant stakeholders.

Donor Stewardship and Development Collaboration
Acts as a subject-matter expert and strategic partner to the College's development, engagement, business development, and career services teams to support fundraising, sponsorship, employer, executive education, and alumni/donor engagement efforts. Identifies and develops corporate sponsorship opportunities for Center programs and activities. Accompanies gift officers on strategic visits to provide programmatic vision, assisting in the cultivation and stewardship of employer and donor partners to enhance student, faculty, and Center resources.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree and six years of experience related to administrative services; or a high school diploma/equivalent and ten years of experience related to administrative services? (Note: post-high school education may substitute for experience at the equivalent rate.)

Preferred Qualifications
  • A demonstrated record of strategic leadership and partnership development, supported by a robust, existing network of commercial real estate professionals, employers, and industry leaders.
  • Experience managing complex, multi-stakeholder initiatives, professional events, and program budgets.
  • An advanced degree in business, real estate, finance, planning, or a related field is highly desired.
  • Six or more years of professional experience in commercial real estate development, commercial brokerage, investment, or related financial services.
  • Experience working with students, faculty, and staff in a higher education setting.
  • Professional credentials in real estate, planning, or finance are strongly advantageous.
