The Director, Finance - Canfor Southern Pine (CSP) is a strategic finance leader who partners with the business to drive performance and support long-term value creation across Canfor Southern Pine operations.

Reporting to the VP, Controller, and working closely with the President, CSP, and Leadership Team, this role provides forward-looking financial insight that informs strategy, capital allocation, and key decisions. You will lead planning, forecasting, performance analysis, and governance-translating complex data into clear, actionable insights.

As leader of a distributed finance team, you will build capability, strengthen financial discipline, and act as a trusted advisor to the business.

Key Responsibilities

Strategic Finance Leadership
  • Shape CSP strategy through financial insight, scenario modeling, and data-driven recommendations
  • Lead long-range planning to align capital and resources with business priorities
  • Identify value creation opportunities, including cost optimization and strategic investments
  • Strengthen enterprise analytics to support timely, informed decision-making


Financial Reporting & Performance
  • Lead financial reporting and performance reviews across CSP operations
  • Deliver insights that connect operational drivers to financial outcomes
  • Enhance KPIs, dashboards, and reporting processes
  • Ensure compliance with corporate and regulatory requirements


Planning, Budgeting & Forecasting
  • Lead development of budgets, forecasts, and long-range plans
  • Improve planning processes to increase accuracy, transparency, and agility
  • Challenge assumptions to ensure plans are robust and risk-informed
  • Support capital allocation and resource prioritization decisions


Controls & Governance
  • Lead internal controls, financial systems, and governance processes
  • Maintain a strong control environment across operations
  • Identify and mitigate enterprise risks
  • Embed sound governance into business decision-making


Business Partnership & Operational Leadership
  • Contribute as a key member of the CSP Leadership Team
  • Provide financial counsel on capital investments, cost structure, and market opportunities
  • Partner across functions to improve performance and deliver key initiatives
  • Drive a performance-focused, ownership mindset across the business


Team Leadership & External Alignment
  • Lead and develop a high-performing, distributed finance team
  • Build capability through talent development and succession planning
  • Oversee audit activities and ensure timely resolution of findings
  • Maintain strong relationships with auditors, banks, and external partners


Qualifications

Education & Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, or related field; CPA required
  • 10+ years of progressive leadership experience in finance or accounting, ideally within a manufacturing or industrial environment
  • Proven ability to partner with senior leaders to drive business performance through financial insight and analysis
  • Strong financial acumen with advanced analytical, forecasting, and decision-support capabilities
  • Demonstrated experience leading, developing, and scaling high-performing teams
  • Ability to translate complex data into clear, actionable insights for diverse audiences
