POSITION TYPE : Permanent, Full-time, Day, 75 hours / pay period, 1.0 FTE
SALARY SCALE : $161,885 to $192,350 annually

Summary of the role

Reporting to the Chief Financial Officer, Vice-President, Corporate Services, Planning and Redevelopment, this role is responsible for providing strategic leadership in advancing Bruyère Health's organizational priorities through sound leadership of the organization's finance function, including accounting, budgeting, treasury management, financial systems, internal controls, financial performance management, statutory reporting, operational decision-making, policy development, regulatory compliance, and stakeholder relations. This role is responsible for providing ongoing leadership to management and staff, overseeing operating and capital budgeting processes, advising management and physician leadership on financial matters, representing the organization at regional and provincial forums, and ensuring that financial services are delivered efficiently, effectively, and in accordance with legislative requirements, industry standards, and best practices. This role is also responsible for translating complex financial, operational, and regulatory information into clear advice, briefing materials, and governance-level presentations that support informed decision-making by senior leadership, Board committees, and external stakeholders.

The main responsibilities include:

  • Monitor financial and operational performance, analyze variances, and lead corrective action planning with Directors and Managers.
  • Lead annual budgeting, forecasting, financial planning, and Ministry accountability submissions.
  • Identify cost optimization opportunities and develop strategies aligned with organizational priorities.
  • Present financial results, forecasts and business cases to senior leadership and Board committees.
  • Ensure compliance with legislation, regulations, Ministry directives, funding requirements, and professional standards.
  • Maintain accounting policies, procedures, and practices that support accurate, accountable, and effective financial management.
  • Authorize disbursements and banking transactions within delegated authorities.
  • Provide strategic financial advice to senior leadership on organizational priorities, operational effectiveness, and long-term sustainability.
  • Build a high-performing, collaborative Finance team and strengthen cross-functional partnerships, positioning Finance as a proactive strategic business partner focused on accountability and continuous improvement.


Qualifications

Required:

  • Undergraduate university degree Four (4) years in Accounting, Finance, Commerce, or an equivalent discipline
  • Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) designation
  • Minimum of seven (7) years of relevant experience in financial performance management, general accounting, financial reporting, or the implementation of internal and external controls
  • Experience supporting organizations of a similar nature, within the healthcare sector, public sector, or related industries
  • Strong knowledge of public sector and healthcare financial reporting requirements, including funding accountability, Ministry reporting, and sector-specific standards
  • Experience developing financial models, forecasts, business cases, and scenario analyses to support strategic and operational decision-making
  • Fluent in French and English (Candidates who do not meet this language requirement are eligible to apply for this position and may be considered if there are no other suitable applicants who meet this requirement.)


Preferred:

  • Experience working in the healthcare sector or a similar public sector environment is considered an asset.
