Overview:

Reporting to the Chief Financial Officer (CFO), the Director, Finance & Analytics plays a key role in executing the continued evolution of the Finance function at Covenant House Toronto.

This role is responsible for supporting the CFO in implementing and embedding systems, processes, and reporting capabilities that improve financial operations, strengthen decision support, and enhance financial visibility across the organization.

In addition to driving systems, analytics, process improvement and business partnering initiatives, this role provides leadership, coaching and development to the Finance team.

Working in close partnership with the CFO, the Director will translate defined priorities into practical, sustainable solutions, with a focus on execution, collaboration, adoption, and continuous improvement. The role ensures that investments in systems and data (including NetSuite, Microsoft Fabric, Power BI, ZoneOCR, Bill.com and other automation tools) are effectively utilized and deliver meaningful operational value.

The emphasis is on timely, actionable financial insight and support, enabling leaders to make informed decisions in a complex, mission-driven environment.

We are currently recruiting for 1 Full-time Permanent, Director, Finance & Analytics. This is a new position within the organization.

Responsibilities:

Team Leadership, Development & Change Management
  • Lead, mentor, coach, and develop Finance team members to become partners to our internal business stakeholders.
  • Support employees through significant organizational, process, and technology change initiatives.
  • Champion change management practices to ensure successful adoption of new systems, reporting tools, workflows, and controls.
  • Promote continuous improvement by encouraging innovation, learning, and constructive challenge of existing practices.

Financial Systems Adoption & Process Enablement
  • Support the adoption and refinement of NetSuite (implemented by Covenant House International).
  • Translate system functionality into practical workflows, controls, and reporting structures.
  • Promote consistent and disciplined system use across Finance and operational teams.
  • Identify and reduce reliance on manual processes, spreadsheets, and workarounds.
  • Implement and optimize automation tools (e.g., Zone OCR, Concur or similar), particularly within accounts payable, to improve:
    • Efficiency
    • Data accuracy
    • Processing timelines

Reporting & Analytics (Power BI)
  • Develop and maintain Power BI dashboards and reports to support financial and operational decision-making.
  • Improve the timeliness, clarity, and usability of financial reporting.
  • Ensure reporting is aligned across:
    • Finance
    • Executive leadership
    • Program and operational teams


  • Provide clear, actionable insights that support understanding of performance and emerging issues.

Cash Flow Management & Capital Planning
  • Develop and maintain cash flow forecasts and liquidity models.
  • Support financial planning related to the organization's $200M redevelopment initiative.
  • Provide analysis and insight into:
    • Cash requirements and timing
    • Use and replenishment of reserves
    • Financial risks and sensitivities
  • Support evaluation of financing options, including:
    • Government funding opportunities
    • Alternative or low-cost financing structures

Government Funding & Compliance
  • Support financial reporting for government funding agreements.
  • Ensure compliance with funding requirements, agreements, and reporting timelines.
  • Maintain audit-ready documentation and supporting schedules.
  • Contribute to consistent, transparent, and reliable reporting practices.

Finance Business Partnering
  • Support the development of a Finance business partnering approach across the organization to facilitate budgeting, forecasting, on-going departmental performance analysis.
  • Provide financial analysis and insights to program and operational leaders.
  • Translate financial information into clear, practical guidance to support decision-making.
  • Contribute to improving financial literacy and accountability among non-financial stakeholders.
  • Develop tools and outputs (e.g., dashboards, forecasts, models) to support:
    • Planning
    • Resource allocation
    • Performance management
  • Annual Audit experience

System-Enabled Operational Improvement
  • Support improvements to finance processes through effective use of systems, automation, and data.
  • Enhance consistency and efficiency in financial operations as a result of system adoption.
  • Focus on sustainable improvements through process design and standardization, rather than manual intervention.

Data Management & Integration (NetSuite to Microsoft Fabric / CDW)
  • Function as Finance Steward lead for data flowing from NetSuite into the Microsoft Fabric environment (via CDW).
  • Assist in the defining and maintenance of financial data requirements for data warehouse ingestion, including:
    • General ledger
    • Budget and forecast data
    • Key reporting dimensions
  • Ensure data is:
    • Structured appropriately for reporting and analysis.
    • Consistent with finance definitions and chart of accounts
    • Aligned with Power BI reporting needs
  • Work with CDW and internal stakeholders to:
    • Validate data mappings and transformations.
    • Ensure completeness and accuracy of financial data pipelines.

Qualifications and Experience:
  • CPA designation required.
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Commerce, Business Administration, Economics, or a related discipline.
  • MBA, Master's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Analytics, Data Analytics, or a related field is considered an asset.
  • Additional certifications in Business Intelligence, Data Analytics, Project Management, Change Management, NetSuite, Microsoft Fabric, or related technologies are considered assets.
  • 8-12+ years of progressive finance experience
  • Experience in not-for-profit, charitable, healthcare, or complex multi-program environments preferred.
  • Demonstrated experience with:
    • NetSuite (adoption and practical use)
    • Power BI or similar BI/reporting tools
    • Financial systems and automation tools (e.g., OCR/AP solutions)
    • Demonstrated change management of teams through organizational transformation.
    • Experience coaching, mentoring and development of staff at varying levels of experience.
  • Extensive Experience supporting:
    • Cash flow planning, ideally in capital-intensive or constrained environments
    • Government funding and reporting environments (all levels of Government)
    • Budgeting, forecasting, and financial modeling
