Full Job Description
Reporting to the VP, Asset Performance & Assurance, the Director - Environmental Compliance is responsible for providing strategic leadership and governance of environmental compliance across the EthosEnergy Operations & Maintenance (EEOM) portfolio. This includes oversight of a circa 30GW diversified fleet of power generation assets, including thermal, wind, solar, and hydro facilities. The role ensures full compliance with applicable environmental regulations, drives continuous improvement in environmental performance, and supports operational excellence across all managed sites.

Job Responsibilities

  • Provide overall leadership for environmental compliance across a multi-site fleet of power generation assets.
  • Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local environmental regulations and permits.
  • Develop, implement, and maintain standardized environmental management programs and systems.
  • Lead and manage a team of regional environmental managers supporting assigned power generation assets.
  • Oversee environmental audits, inspections, and compliance reviews across the portfolio.
  • Manage and respond to regulatory inspections, enforcement actions, and compliance events.
  • Drive root cause analysis and corrective action programs for environmental incidents.
  • Establish and monitor environmental KPIs and provide executive-level reporting.
  • Serve as the primary interface with regulatory agencies and key stakeholders.
  • Provide strategic guidance to senior leadership on environmental risk and compliance matters.
  • Support ESG, sustainability, and environmental performance initiatives across the business.
  • Ensure alignment of environmental programs with EthosEnergy HSSE standards and policies.
Required Skills / Knowledge

  • Expert knowledge of federal, state, and local environmental regulations applicable to power generation and heavy industrial operations, including Clean Air Act, Clean Water Act, RCRA, SPCC, EPCRA, NPDES, Title V, GHG reporting, and related permitting requirements.
  • Strong understanding of environmental compliance requirements for thermal, wind, solar, and hydroelectric generation assets.
  • Demonstrated ability to interpret permits, regulatory obligations, consent orders, inspection findings, and agency correspondence and translate requirements into practical site-level actions.
  • Proven knowledge of environmental management systems, compliance assurance programs, audit protocols, corrective action tracking, and continuous improvement practices.
  • Working knowledge of air emissions monitoring and reporting, wastewater and stormwater compliance, waste management, chemical management, spill prevention, and emergency response requirements.
  • Ability to assess environmental risk, prioritize compliance actions across a multi-site portfolio, and provide clear recommendations to executive leadership and operations teams.
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to guide regional environmental managers, influence plant leadership, and establish consistent expectations across diverse operating sites.
  • Excellent communication, technical writing, and presentation skills, including the ability to prepare executive reports, regulatory responses, audit summaries, and environmental performance dashboards.
  • High proficiency with compliance tracking systems, document control practices, environmental data management, Microsoft Office applications, and KPI-based performance reporting.
  • Ability to work effectively with regulatory agencies, customers, site management, legal, HSSE, operations, engineering, and commercial stakeholders in a matrixed organization.

  • Experience with permitting, emissions reporting, and regulatory agency interaction.
  • Proven leadership experience managing technical teams.
  • Strong analytical, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
Physical Requirements
