Full Job Description
Purpose Leads and mentors the engineering and project teams to provide high quality engineering and project management services. Formulates and promotes engineering-related guidelines and procedures to match and support the Company goals and principles. Guides the management staff in making sound engineering, project management, and financial decisions. Oversee the capital budget for the company. Provides counsel to senior leadership as requested. Accountabilities • Directs the engineering and project teams to provide quality engineering and project services that support the company goals and principles. • Directs the annual and long-term capital plan. This includes planning, budgeting, execution, and administration to meet the company objectives. Capital expenditure oversight responsibilities include advising management on capital needs and issues, providing accurate reporting and projection, ensuring that expenditures are being made for top priority projects and that the company policies are adhered to. • Oversees and manages the departmental O&M budget. • Acts as a lead witness for capital projects and engineering practices for applicable hearings and cases. • Supports the development and execution of the company's wildfire mitigation plan and associated risk model. • Participates on the company's incident management team. • Supports and guides the development and utilization of appropriate work standards and procedures. • Supports and guides the development and utilization of appropriate engineering, asset management, and financial tools. • Supports operations, safety, and energy supply • Promotes advancements in, and the use of, technology to improve system safety and reliability, optimize workflow, and optimize record keeping and data integrity. • Ensure compliance with all applicable Local, State, and Federal codes including the filing of applicable periodic reports under each jurisdiction. • Leads, develops, and supports the growth of employees. • Supports various company strategic and tactical activities and initiatives. • Performs various special projects and other duties that may be assigned by senior leadership. • Occasional travel for business is required. After-hour supervision may be required. Safety observations may be required. Education and Experience • Must have a minimum of 10-years' experience in utility engineering and/or project management, and at least 2-years of leadership experience • Must possess a Bachelor of Science Degree in Engineering or a related Degree from an accredited four-year college or university. • A Professional Engineering License is preferred but not required for an otherwise highly qualified candidate. • A Project Management Professional (PMP) certification desirable • Wildfire mitigation plan experience preferred • Rate case experience preferred, including testimony and hearings • State and new business tariff experience preferred • Emergency response activity preferred • Must have experience in team management, project management and fiscal budgeting • Effective verbal and written communication skills to communicate with others including internal and external customers under normal and adverse conditions • Knowledge and use of personal computers and advanced skills in word processing, data processing, spreadsheets, computer-aided drafting and geographical information systems (GIS) are required • Possess effective interpersonal skills and be able to work and collaborate with people at all levels of the organization Our purpose is sustaining energy and water for life, and it is demonstrated in everything we do as a business and as an employee team.
