Full Job Description
Director, Employee Engagement& Communications, will lead enterprise-wide initiatives that strengthen Amentum's culture, amplify employee voice, and promote community impact. This role will design and deliver programs that reach wired and non-wired employees to celebrate achievements, foster engagement, and showcase corporate social responsibility (CSR) efforts internally. In addition, the Director will govern and manage the Amentum Connect Network, develop resources for people leaders, and create opportunities for professional connection and engagement across the organization for both wired and non-wired employees. With a focus on storytelling, campaigns, insights, and connections, this role ensures employees feel engaged, informed, and connected to Amentum's mission, values, and purpose. This role owns the end-to-end communications strategy and execution for enterprise employee engagement initiatives, including planning, writing, editing, channel strategy, distribution, and measurement of communications effectiveness. The role directly manages one individual and provides strategic direction, prioritization, and oversight of engagement programs, employee networks, and associated communications.

This is a US REMOTE role teleworking from home, requiring occasional travel to work on-site at Amentum's U.S. headquarters in Virginia. US Citizenship is required to apply.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Culture & Engagement Storytelling
  • Develop and execute storytelling strategies that highlight business, team, and employee achievements and alignment with Amentum culture and values.
  • Deliver compelling narratives that reinforce Amentum's strategy, culture, identity, and values.
  • Oversee development of written and multimedia content (e.g., emails, intranet features, executive messaging, newsletters, toolkits) ensuring clarity, consistency, and alignment with enterprise messaging standards.

2. Engagement Campaigns
  • Design and activate campaigns that reach wired and non-wired employees to amplify listening insights, learning and recognition programs, and community initiatives.
  • Collaborate with HR and Business Group leaders to ensure campaigns align with organizational priorities.
  • Measure campaign effectiveness and continuously optimize for impact and reach.
  • Develop integrated communication plans, including audience segmentation, messaging frameworks, channel strategy, editorial calendars, and deployment timelines.
  • Ensure all campaign communications are written, edited, and delivered to a high standard of quality, consistency, and accessibility.

3. CSR Amplification
  • Promote corporate social responsibility initiatives internally to strengthen employee connection to Amentum's purpose.
  • Partner with CSR team to integrate community impact stories into engagement channels.
  • Drive participation in volunteer programs and community partnerships.
  • Create and manage enterprise-wide communication strategies and content that amplify CSR initiatives, including storytelling, leader messaging, and participation campaigns.

4. Community & Connections
  • Govern and manage the Amentum Connect Network, fostering collaboration and professional connections across the enterprise.
  • Advance engagement and communication strategy and develop / evolve channels and resources for people leaders to enable wired and non-wired team engagement and connection.
  • Develop targeted engagement and communication tactics to engage, inform, and connect non-wired employees.
  • Own communications strategy for employee networks, ensuring consistent messaging, branding, and engagement approaches across all network types (Connect, Technology, Business Networks).
  • Provide leadership, coaching, and oversight to the Community & Connections Manager, including direction on program execution, communications planning, and measurement.
  • Establish standards, templates, and governance for network communications, ensuring scalability and consistency across the enterprise.

5. Governance & Measurement
  • Establish metrics and reporting frameworks to assess success of communications and connection programs.
  • Monitor trends and provide recommendations for continuous improvement.
  • Maintain alignment with safety, quality, and procedural requirements.
  • Analyze communication and engagement data to evaluate program effectiveness and inform continuous improvement of messaging, channels, and strategies.

6. Enterprise Communications Integration
  • Partner closely with Corporate Communications to align employee engagement messaging with enterprise communication strategies, editorial calendars, and brand standards.
  • Serve as the primary owner of engagement-related internal communications, ensuring seamless coordination across functions and reducing duplication or fragmentation.
  • Ensure communications reflect accessibility standards and consistency for both wired and non-wired employee populations.

Qualifications:
  • Typically requires 15+ years of experience in internal communications, employee engagement, and/or organizational development within a complex, global organization with a Bachelor's degree in Communications, Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field; advanced degree preferred.
  • Demonstrated experience owning end-to-end internal communications, including content creation, editorial planning, channel strategy, and performance measurement.

Compensation Details:
$172k - $214k
