Position Summary

The Director of Emergency Medical Services (EMS) is responsible for providing financial, operational, and strategic leadership for Deaconess EMS. This role ensures effective communication between management and administration, oversees marketing strategy and growth management, and builds and maintains key relationships with outside agencies and facilities. The Director ensures compliance with company policies and all State and Federal laws, rules, and regulations governing EMS operations.
Key Responsibilities
  • Provide strategic direction and leadership consistent with Deaconess' mission, vision, and values.
  • Mentor and develop staff through performance evaluations, coaching, and succession planning to promote a culture of excellence and accountability.
  • Communicate regional and national strategies and initiatives, encouraging engagement and collaboration across teams.
  • Establish clear goals, delegate responsibilities effectively, and monitor progress to ensure timely and quality execution.
  • Deliver compelling presentations and written communications to internal and external stakeholders, maintaining professionalism under pressure.
  • Translate organizational strategies into actionable objectives that drive growth and operational success.
  • Stay informed on industry trends and best practices impacting EMS operations.
  • Design, implement, and maintain processes to maximize operational efficiency and service quality.
  • Oversee all EMS and Patient Transport business functions to ensure alignment with strategic goals and mission.
  • Make informed financial and operational decisions that support long-term business growth and sustainability.
  • Enforce adherence to all legal and ethical standards, maintaining the organization's integrity and compliance.
  • Analyze reports and operational data to identify improvement opportunities and implement solutions.
  • Cultivate and maintain strong partnerships with key stakeholders, acting as a primary point of contact for collaboration and growth opportunities.
  • Maintain a deep understanding of the Indiana, Illinois, and Kentucky markets dynamics and industry developments to guide decision-making.
  • Take timely corrective action to ensure financial and operational targets are achieved.
  • Collaborate closely with Deaconess Medical Directors, facilitating routine meetings and strategic discussions.
Education & Experience

Required:
  • Associate's Degree in Paramedic Science
  • Bachelor's Degree in Emergency Medical Services or related field
  • Minimum of seven (7) years of relevant experience in Emergency Medical Services
  • Minimum of two (2) years of leadership experience in EMS

Preferred:
  • Master's Degree in Healthcare Management or related field
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Extensive knowledge of EMS operations and regulatory requirements.
  • Strong leadership, organizational, and strategic planning abilities.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to motivate and influence teams.
