Full Job Description
Responsibilities

The Director, Distribution Operations & Sales Enablement may be located on site in Scottsdale, AZ, Chicago, IL or across remote western US locations and supports Vela’s distribution and broker engagement efforts by combining strong operational execution with a highly personable, sales‑oriented approach.

 

This role plays a key part in supporting broker relationships, coordinating sales enablement initiatives, and representing Vela at industry events and conferences.

 

The ideal candidate is detail‑oriented, organized, and comfortable building relationships with brokers and internal partners while helping execute distribution and growth initiatives.

 

The role includes: 

 

Broker Engagement & Relationship Support

  • Maintain and manage broker assignment data, territory alignments, and distribution records to ensure accuracy and consistency.
  • Support broker performance tracking by compiling, maintaining, and validating data on production, submission flow, hit ratios, and profitability.
  • Prepare standard and ad-hoc reports and dashboards used for distribution reviews, territory assessments, and leadership updates.
  • Support annual territory reviews, producer council and sales meetings.
  • Attend industry conferences and events to support networking, brand presence, and broker engagement
  • Assist with planning and execution of broker‑facing and internal events, including regional meetings and the annual Underwriting Summit
  • Assist in updating training materials, presentations, and reference documents.
  • Coordinate broker licensing documentation and support compliance tracking in partnership with internal teams.

Sales Enablement & Training Support

  • Assist with underwriting and sales training programs by coordinating schedules, materials, attendance tracking, and follow‑ups.
  • Help update and organize training materials and reference documents.
  • Support meeting preparation and documentation for internal sales and underwriting initiatives.
Qualifications
  • Four (4) year College Degree, or commensurate experience and training
  • Industry designations such as CPCU, ARM preferred
  • 5 years of experience in insurance, sales operations, underwriting support, or a related field
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills; comfortable engaging with external partners
  • Sales‑oriented mindset with interest in broker relationships and distribution strategy
  • Highly organized with strong attention to detail and follow‑through
  • Proficient in Excel and reporting tools
  • Willingness to travel for broker meetings, conferences, and events
