About the Role:
The Director, DevOps plays a key role in leading the strategy, execution, and continuous improvement of DevOps capabilities across Priority's technology environment. This role is responsible for building and scaling infrastructure, CI/CD pipelines, and engineering practices that improve reliability, efficiency, and delivery speed. The position requires strong technical depth across cloud, automation, and infrastructure, along with the leadership skills to guide a global team and influence cross-functional partners. You will collaborate closely with Engineering, QA, and IT teams to strengthen system performance, operational excellence, and long-term platform scalability.
Responsibilities:
- Lead and mentor a team of DevOps engineers, ensuring best practices in automation, cloud infrastructure, and CI/CD.
- Collaborate with development, QA, and IT teams to streamline deployments and optimize system reliability.
- Oversee infrastructure as code (IaC), monitoring, and security implementations.
- Drive continuous improvement in DevOps processes and culture.
- Evangelize DevOps best practice and technologies, working closely with development teams to drive adoption.
- Ensure high availability, performance, and security of applications and infrastructure.
- Evaluate and implement new tools, technologies, and methodologies to enhance efficiency.
- Keep up to date with industry trends and competitor products.
- Measure and analyze product success using relevant KPIs (uptime, cost, adoption).
- Act as the subject matter expert for internal teams regarding product direction and supported use cases.
- Estimate costs, build business cases, and assist with budget creation.

Candidate Requirements:
Required
- 10-15 years of experience.
- 3-5 years of management experience, ideally with a focus on technical/infrastructure products.
- 3-5 years of experience as a software engineer, DevOps engineer, or systems architect.
- Strong expertise in AWS technologies (EKS, MSK, VPC, RDS, etc).
- Significant hands-on experience with CI/CD tools (Jenkins, TeamCity, Octo, GitHub Actions).
- Proficiency in infrastructure as code (Terraform, Ansible, CloudFormation).
- Strong scripting and automation skills (Python, Bash, PowerShell).
- Excellent problem-solving, communication, and leadership abilities.
- Can work comfortably in JIRA following the Agile methodology.
- Ability to lead cross-functional teams and collaborate effectively.
- High resilience and the ability to manage change.
Preferred
- Experience leading global, distributed DevOps or platform engineering teams.
- Experience driving DevOps transformation or large-scale infrastructure modernization initiatives.
- Familiarity with site reliability engineering (SRE) principles and practices.
- Experience managing budgets, cost optimization, and vendor relationships in cloud environments.
- Experience operating in high-growth or enterprise-scale environments.
Compensation and Benefits:
Compensation range: $138k - $210k
