Position / Job Summary

Director, Dallas College Transfer ASAP provides strategic leadership for a comprehensive, grant-funded student success initiative designed to improve persistence, associate degree completion, and successful transfer outcomes for full-time, Pell-eligible Dallas County students. Grounded in Guided Pathways and evidence-based student success practices, the role leads implementation of a high-touch, case-managed model that integrates advising, transfer planning, career support, academic assistance, financial support, and student engagement. Reporting to the Dean, Pathway Success - the Director advances institutional transfer and completion goals by overseeing program operations, staff leadership, grant compliance, assessment, budget management, and cross-functional partnerships with college departments and university partners. The Director will guide the development and implementation of the four-year grant initiative, ensuring the program is launched effectively, scaled responsibly, and sustained through strong operational structures, data-informed continuous improvement, and alignment with Dallas College priorities.


Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Lead the development, implementation, scaling, and continuous improvement of Dallas College Transfer ASAP, ensuring alignment with institutional student success goals, Guided Pathways principles, four-year grant expectations, grant requirements, and evidence-based ASAP practices.
  • Oversee the delivery of integrated, high-touch student support services including academic advising, transfer planning, career development, tutoring, financial support administration, and student engagement initiatives.
  • Supervise and support Transfer ASAP staff through coaching, performance management, professional development, and operational leadership.
  • Develop and implement strategies to recruit, enroll, retain, and support full-time, Pell-eligible Dallas County students participating in Transfer ASAP.
  • Ensure implementation of proactive, high-touch, case-managed advising practices that support student persistence, full-time enrollment, transfer readiness, and timely completion.
  • Collaborate with the Associate Dean of Transfer Skills Development and university partners to support transfer pathway development, transfer programming, transfer transition supports, and priority access initiatives for Transfer ASAP students.
  • Work collaboratively with the Senior Director of Retention and Completion, Success Coaching leadership, and the Executive Director of the Case Management Studio to align advising, retention, and student engagement practices with institutional case management and student success strategies.
  • Coordinate with the ASAP Data Analyst to establish, monitor, and assess program metrics, student outcomes, engagement indicators, and operational effectiveness.
  • Oversee four-year grant administration activities including budget management, compliance monitoring, reporting, data collection, implementation milestones, and communication with institutional and external stakeholders.
  • Develop processes supporting effective scholarship, stipend, and other student support resource distribution for Transfer ASAP students in collaboration with the Dallas College Foundation, Financial Aid, Business Services, and other institutional departments.
  • Establish collaborative working relationships with Outreach and Recruitment, Admissions, Financial Aid, Registrar, Career Services, Transfer Services, Success Coaching, Academic Affairs, Institutional Research, and other departments critical to successful program implementation.
  • Lead the development and implementation of interventions and academic support strategies for students experiencing academic, financial, or personal barriers to persistence and transfer success.
  • Monitor program operations to ensure timely delivery of services, effective student outreach, accurate case documentation, and compliance with institutional and grant expectations.
  • Prepare reports, presentations, and program updates for college leadership, grant stakeholders, and external partners.
  • Participate in institutional committees and cross-functional workgroups supporting transfer, retention, persistence, and student success.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant college policies, grant requirements, state and federal regulations, and reporting expectations.
  • Exercises full discretion and decision-making authority in the recruitment, selection, hiring, mentoring, coaching, development & termination of staff, ensuring alignment with organizational goals, budgetary constraints, and workforce planning strategies.
  • Drive high performance by administering the performance management process timely, setting clear expectations, conducting performance evaluations, and implementing initiatives that enhance employee engagement, motivation, and retention.
  • Required Dallas College Professional Development Hours per Academic Year.
    • All employees are required to complete a minimum of 19 hours.
    • People leaders are required an additional 16 hours of leadership development.
  • Perform other duties not listed as assigned.

Minimum and Preferred 6 Education, Experience, and/or Certifications


Required Qualifications for Role (necessary or mandatory)

  • Masters degree in Higher Education, Educational Leadership, Student Affairs, Counseling, Social Work, or a related field plus two (2) years of progressively responsible leadership experience in higher education student success, transfer services, retention, advising, or academic affairs OR
  • Bachelor's degree plus five (5) years of progressively responsible leadership experience in higher education student success, transfer services, retention, advising, or academic affairs.

Other Preferred Qualifications for Role (not mandatory, but advantageous)

  • Doctorate in Education or related discipline.
  • Experience supervising student success professionals and/or multidisciplinary support teams.
  • Experience managing programs, initiatives, or grants designed to support student persistence, retention, completion, or transfer success.
  • Experience leading transfer-focused student success initiatives or large-scale retention and completion reforms.
  • Experience supporting full-time, Pell-eligible county, first-generation in college, adult, and/or economically disadvantaged student populations.
  • Demonstrated experience building university partnerships, transfer pathway collaborations, transfer transition supports, and priority access initiatives.
  • Experience implementing holistic advising or case management models in higher education.
  • Experience working with evidence-based student success models such as ASAP, Guided Pathways, or similar comprehensive retention initiatives.
  • Bilingual or multilingual preferred.
