Full Job Description
We're seeking a future team member for the role of Director, Tax - Information Reporting and Withholding to join our Corporate Tax team. This role is located in New York, NY. In this role, you'll make an impact in the following ways: • Works with senior management to ensure compliance with U.S. and non-U.S. information reporting tax legislation • Demonstrates extensive knowledge of Ch. 3, Ch. 4, Ch. 61, 871(m) and 1446(f) of the Internal Revenue Code and corresponding regulations, as well as specialized understanding of the end-to-end processes for withholding, depositing and reporting with a conceptual understanding of relevant tools and systems • Familiarity with non-U.S. withholding and reporting issues; including tax reclaims. • Represents Corporate Tax in Federal, State and non-U.S. controversy related to Information Reporting and Withholding and works with legal counsel and external accounting firms to gather facts and develop strategies to ensure compliance with regulations. • Performs complex research and analysis of the tax law, regulations and cases to provide senior management with recommendations and opinions by applying tax concepts. Once the Corporate Tax policy is determined, then will liaise with various business across the enterprise to implement the regulations. Perform trainings, vendor reviews and review business requirements and procedures during the implementation. • Works with management to identify the most relevant Key Performance Indicators (KPIs). Monitors and manages business performance and reviews and ensures accuracy with the metrics tracking mechanisms and develops solutions from the outcomes of the scorecard reporting. • Uses existing strategic relationships to influence at all levels of the organization • Liaises with lines of business and reporting vendors to ensure proper reporting of tax information • No direct reports. Oversees, advises and guides less experienced Corporate Tax roles and may direct their work. To be successful in this role, we're seeking the following: • Must have Bachelor's degree, or foreign equivalent, in Business Administration, Accounting, or a related field, plus 10 years of progressively responsible experience in the position offered or a related occupation. • Extensive knowledge of Ch. 3, Ch. 4, Ch. 61, 871(m) and 1446(f) of the Internal Revenue Code • Tax documentation knowledge including IRS W-8 and W-9 Tax Forms. • Tax reporting knowledge including rules and regulations governing Forms 1099, Forms 1042-S and FATCA reporting compliance. BNY assesses market data to ensure a competitive compensation package for our employees. The base salary for this position is expected to be between $130,000 and $250,000 per year at the commencement of employment. However, base salary if hired will be determined on an individualized basis, including as to experience and market location, and is only part of the BNY total compensation package, which, depending on the position, may also include commission earnings, discretionary bonuses, short and long-term incentive packages, and Company-sponsored benefit programs. This position is at-will and the Company reserves the right to modify base salary (as well as any other discretionary payment or compensation) at any time, including for reasons related to individual performance, change in geographic location, Company or individual department/team performance, and market factors.
