What are we looking for?
The Director, Configuration provides strategic leadership and direction for the organization's benefit configuration and claims platform operations across all core systems. This role is accountable for the multi-year configuration roadmap, ensuring scalability, quality, compliance, and operational excellence while enabling growth and superior client and member experiences. The Director defines configuration standards and governance, directs complex enterprise implementations, and partners with senior leadership across Operations, IT, Product, Compliance, Reporting, Finance, and Network Development to align configuration capabilities with organizational strategy and evolving market needs. This role oversees resource planning, portfolio prioritization, vendor relationships, audit readiness, and performance outcomes across multiple locations.

Strategic Leadership & Vision
Define and execute the multi-year configuration strategy and roadmap to support organizational priorities, client needs, and platform evolution.
Establish configuration standards, naming conventions, and quality benchmarks to ensure consistent, scalable builds across systems.
Partner with leadership to forecast future-state requirements and guide investments in platform capabilities, automation, and data-driven decision-making.
Leadership & Talent Development
Lead and develop a high-performing team of Managers and Analysts across multiple locations; oversee workforce planning, succession planning, and leadership development.
Set clear objectives, KPIs/OKRs, and performance metrics for the department; monitor results and adjust priorities to meet enterprise goals.
Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement aligned with Versant Health's leadership principles.
Governance & Compliance
Design and maintain governance frameworks for configuration processes, including policies, procedures, change control, and documentation standards.
Ensure adherence to SOC controls, HIPAA, contractual SLAs, and regulatory requirements; maintain audit readiness and lead internal/external audit engagements and corrective action plans.
Oversee risk identification, mitigation strategies, and root-cause analysis for configuration-related defects and incidents.
Operational Excellence & Innovation
Drive continuous improvement initiatives to streamline workflows, reduce cycle times, increase automation, and improve accuracy and first-pass yield.
Author and approve business requirements for platform enhancements; coordinate with IT, Product, and vendors on solution design, development, and implementation.
Oversee test strategy (e.g., UAT, regression, negative testing) internal to Configuration to ensure functional integrity, stability, and prevention of defects in production.
Enterprise Collaboration
Collaborate across Operations, IT, Product, Compliance, Reporting, Finance, and Network Development to integrate configuration strategy into enterprise initiatives.
Serve as a senior client-facing leader for strategic discussions, audits, operational checkpoints, and education; represent Versant Health in executive forums.
Partner with Claims Operations and Clinical Operations to ensure alignment of policy administration, benefits, pricing, and payment methodologies.
Vendor & Technology Oversight
Lead coordination of business requirements and consulting requests for configuration-related enhancements, ensuring alignment with current and future-state business needs.
Actively engage with designated claims platform vendors to review, validate, and approve configuration changes; oversee testing and implementation to ensure accuracy and compliance.
Establish and maintain robust vendor oversight and monitoring processes specific to configuration changes, including documentation standards, quality checkpoints, and performance reporting.
Collaborate with IT Product Owners and Vendor Management teams to ensure configuration priorities are represented in vendor roadmaps and system upgrade planning.

Experience
10+ Years
Required
Notes:
10+ years of progressive experience in healthcare benefit configuration or claims system administration required
5+ years of leadership experience in a managerial or director-level capacity leading multi-site teams or programs required
Advanced knowledge of medical/vision claims adjudication, benefit structures, medical policy administration, and provider reimbursement methodologies required
Proven experience establishing governance, policies, and controls in regulated environments (HIPAA, SOC); strong audit readiness and corrective action planning required
Demonstrated success in portfolio management, cross-functional leadership, vendor management, and executive reporting required
Proficiency in Microsoft Office required; proficiency with SQL Server Management Studio (SSMS) and data querying/analytics preferred
Experience with configuration platforms such as Plexis Claims Manager (PCM), HSP Meditrac, or similar systems preferred
